OUT NOW!
Siege Column "Inferno Deathpassion" LP
ANTI-GOTH 384

(Description by C. Conrad)
From the wastelands of New Jersey, Siege Column rears its ugly head to unleash its debut album, “Inferno Deathpassion.” With these nine death marches that blur the established norms that seek to categorize metal into various subgenres, Siege Column spits in the face of such conventional tendencies and instead harkens back to the days of yore when metal was defined more essentially by primal traits such as speed and ferocity. Whereas this horde’s preceding two demos served to sharpen the knives in its attack arsenal, “Inferno Deathpassion” represents the first offensive in an all-out assault that promises to raze any and all obstacles that lay in its path, be it willingly or otherwise.

Regular Version: Black vinyl LP, 3mm jacket, 12" insert.
Die Hard Version: Mustard yellow vinyl LP, 3mm jacket, 12" insert, die cast logo pin, and sticker.

OUT NOW!

Sex Messiah “Eastern Cult of Sodomy” LP
ANTI-GOTH 408

(Photos coming soon)

(Description by J. Campbell)
Over the last decade, the Japanese underground Metal/Punk phenomenon, Sex Messiah, have produced a series of impressive demos and EPs, firmly establishing their wretched presence in the Japanese underground. In addition to the scattered releases they’ve left behind, Sex Messiah have also become well-known for the savagery of their live performances. Following the 2016 vinyl release by NWN! of a previously nearly impossible to obtain split tour CD with the band’s Brazilian confederates, Impurity, Sex Messiah turned their attention to producing their debut full-length LP for NWN! At last, after ten years of developing and refining their sound, Sex Messiah presents Eastern Cult of Sodomy. With this album, Sex Messiah have perfected their style, which defies easy categorization, but might be considered an amalgamation of Brazilian black/death such as Sextrash and Impurity, Japanese punk, like GISM and Lip Cream, and the occasional riff that hints of evil thrash and early black metal like Sodom or Sabbat. One might be tempted to think that such a diverse array of influences would turn to mush when mixed; however, Sex Messiah have proven themselves more than capable of weaving together disparate sounds in the service of something more powerful and thereby avoid sounding derivative and dull. Indeed, Sex Messiah is undeniably pure in the violence of their intent—the songs are succinct, relentless, and abrasive but offer a broad spectrum of textural and atmospheric elements. The ability to simultaneously cultivate ominous atmosphere around the violent core of Sex Messiah’s songs lends the album a unique character, and the writing is diverse such that no riff feels forced or redundant. One facet of the band that sets it apart from many of its contemporaries—although it may also be considered a nod to the aforementioned GISM—is the use of Industrial Noise intros and interludes. It, therefore, comes as no surprise that guitarist and founding member of the band, Moenos, also has a solo project for her “Satanic Blacknoise”—as she refers to it—which bears resemblance to the noisier passages on the album. With this release, Sex Messiah has perfected their message and stands poised to extend the band’s influence, summoning more adherents to the eastern cult.

Grave Upheaval "Untitled 2nd Album + Live" Digibook 2CD
ANTI-GOTH 387

(Description by J. Campbell)
Grave Upheaval opened the black womb with their 2010 demo and further excavated the catacombs with the following split EP releases and 2013 debut LP. This latest offering—the band’s first release in five years—demonstrates evolution without abandoning the signature elements that have defined its sound thus far. Once again, Grave Upheaval creates a dense, chthonic, death-laden atmosphere, and this album preserves the air of mystery and anonymity surrounding the band. There is no discernible album title, just an array of sigils scrawled on the cover and throughout the booklet. Grave Upheaval emerges from the shadows, albeit only slightly, with clearer production than previous efforts but with a sound that remains draped in malevolent ambience. The same hazy, hallucinatory effect that characterizes all of the band’s previous work remains intact, but the tonality of the riffs and structural elements of the songs are more vividly apparent. The sound is spacious, yet enclosed, like terrified screams reverberating through halls of death. Compositionally, the album shows the expansive sweep of Grave Upheaval’s abilities: long, slow, and sombre Death Metal punctuated with passages of savage ferocity, faithless movements among (un)holy sites with a devotion to nothing except the majesty of lifelessness. Structural and temporal inversions abound, with the guitars played furiously in comparison to the slow motion of the percussion, or vice versa, giving the songs a stretched-out effect, like ghostly movements captured in time-lapse photography. The compositional and stylistic variations are arranged in such a way as to keep the album intriguing and unpredictable, making this one of the most impressive Death Doom albums since diSEMBOWELMENT’s “Transcendence into The Peripheral.” Perhaps what most sets Grave Upheaval apart from their contemporaries is the ability to cultivate atmosphere, making the record more experiential for the listener. It is not a passive setting; the music engulfs the listener in an environment, one that is oppressive, ominous, and devoid of light—the spectrum of colour is reduced to infinite blackness. A nullity and an emptiness. One hears the beckoning call of the seething, faceless void. The black womb opens again…

Coming Soon on NWN!/RBC:

Necrosleezer "Pope Kill" MLP/CD
ANTI-GOTH 414

The obscure 1995 demo from Ace Gestapo Necrosleezer and Vaginal Commands and 3 Black Hearts of Damnation and Impurity of Blasphemy fame, will finally get an official release later this year on NWN! in conspiracy with Ross Bay Cult. Recorded at the infamous Fiasco Bros. Studios during Blasphemy's hiatus, this forgotten bestial black metal recording is reminiscent of the direction Blasphemy was going on Gods of War, but mixed with Necrosleezer's other influences. This will be the first official reissue of this lost recording.

Tape version will be done by Darkness Attack.

Chaos Echoes "The Unfathomable" MC
ANTI-GOTH 339

(Description by J. Campbell)
It’s been more than two years since France’s Chaos Echoes released their debut full length album, “Transient,” which showcased the band’s deft navigation among labyrinthine channels under, around, and through the outer reaches of the extreme metal genre. “Transient” established Chaos Echoes as one of the most compelling and innovative groups of musicians in the scene, and anyone who has witnessed some of their live performances since that time, such as their flawless presentation at NWN! Fest in 2016, has likely been appropriately awestruck by the band’s skill and dynamism. Listeners may recall that interspersed throughout the “Transient” album were improvisational pieces, referred to as “Interzones” (a nod to Burroughs’ “Naked Lunch”), that provided connective tissue between the more heavily constructed songs on the album. Similarly, “The Unfathomable” may be regarded as an Interzone between the aforementioned “Transient” album and Chaos Echoes’ forthcoming full length, entitled “Mouvement,” which will also be released on NWN! Productions. While this EP is intended as a bridge between the band’s first and second albums, it is also an outlier of sorts, in that this recording is more shapeless and ambient than the album material. “The Unfathomable” is one track—the longest piece in the Chaos Echoes catalog—covering a full side of an LP. (The other side features an etching designed by band leader and visual artist, Stefan Thanneur, who created all the artwork for the release.) “The Unfathomable” is among the most evocative and atmospheric pieces Chaos Echoes has performed. Improvised and recorded in Paris in 2015, the track was edited and mixed by former band member Fabien W. Furter. It is desolate, ritualistic, and cold—lunar in its emptiness. It is a hymn to solitude, a collision of intermittent percussion, strings, and electronics, unfolding in slow, churning motions and abandoned to the corrosive machinations of entropy.

OUT NOW!

Blasphemy “Blood Upon the Altar” LP
ANTI-GOTH 398

MORE PHOTOS COMING LATER

(Description by J. Campbell)
Although Blasphemy’s recorded output was limited, its endurance over the last three decades is a testament to its originality and extremity, and it all began with the Blood Upon the Altar demo. The band’s origin was unremarkable but auspicious. In 1984, founding members Nocturnal Grave Desecrater and Black Winds and 3 Black Hearts of Damnation and Impurity, who lived near one another and were already acquainted, began playing music together, mostly working on cover songs. They soon recruited Caller of the Storms and Black Priest of the 7 Satanic Blood Rituals to complete the original lineup. After briefly adopting the name Antichrist, the band eventually settled on the simple and iconic name Blasphemy and began writing songs. They refined their sound and focused their songs during live rituals over the next several years, although the lineup would fluctuate slightly when Black Winds did a brief stint in jail, and Bestial Savior of the Undead Legions briefly assumed bass duties. Black Winds soon rejoined the fold, and Blasphemy entered Fiasco Bros. studio in 1989 with an $800 budget. They emerged having produced one of the most devastating demo recordings ever made. Blood Upon the Altar ushered in a new style of Black Metal, no less dark or evil than their contemporaries, but more confrontational, more violent. In addition to being heavily inspired by Bathory, Sodom, and Slayer, Blasphemy also drew from the punk infused Brazilian scene, especially SarcóI_LOVE_PENIS, as well as Grindcore bands like Blood and Genocide (Repulsion). The resultant mixture of these influences yielded a demo that established a new standard for extremity in Black Metal, a bar that Blasphemy would continue to raise with each subsequent recording. This edition of Blood Upon the Altar marks the first time since its original release that it has been properly featured as a stand-alone album. For far too long, this demo was tacked as bonus tracks onto the end of the Gods of War album, leaving the impression that Blood Upon the Altar was of lower stature; in fact, for many, Blood Upon the Altar is the most powerful Blasphemy release of all. Additionally, many of the earlier reissue editions of this recording had long gaps between the tracks owing to an improperly prepared digital master, but that flaw has been corrected with this version, which was also remastered by James Plotkin to ensure the best possible sound. Finally, the original demo artwork once again adorns the cover of this LP, which also features a full-color gatefold. In every respect, this version—a joint release by NWN! and Ross Bay Cult—seeks to restore Blood Upon the Altar to its original status as one of the most significant Black Metal recordings of all time.

Blasphemy “Blood Upon the Soundspace” MLP
ANTI-GOTH 406

MORE PHOTOS COMING LATER.

(Description by J. Campbell)
Following the recent reissue campaign, NWN! is honored to present the first official release of a rarely heard 1989 rehearsal recording, Blood Upon the Soundspace. This crude open-air mic recording captures the unvarnished vigor of Blasphemy in a way that the contemporaneous studio recordings cannot. The rehearsal took place in Blasphemy’s practice space sometime following the release of the Blood Upon the Altar demo as the Desecraters were writing material that would later appear on the 1990 debut LP, Fallen Angel of Doom. Four of the five tracks feature songs that would be recorded for the album, with “War Command” being the only exception. The live performance of these tracks in the band’s rehearsal space is devastating and showcases a side of Blasphemy that many have never previously heard. The unified front of the instrumentation—the blunt force of Black Winds’ bass assault, the wicked precision of Black Priest’s rhythm guitar, Black Hearts’ furious drumming—is undeniably powerful. Black Winds’ raw vocals, raspier than on the studio recordings, drive the intensity of the performance, while Caller’s renegade solos are characteristically unhinged and frantic. The band only produced a handful of these rehearsal tapes for distribution to close associates. This version of the recording is taken from a tape Black Winds sent to Metalion (Slayer Magazine) in May of 1989—one of the only known extant copies—and is newly mastered by James Plotkin to enhance the audio where possible. (Note that the first track, “Darkness Prevails,” is noticeably more distorted than the rest of the recording.) To maintain the authenticity of this release, the cover features original artwork created in 1988 by Black Priest and screenshots taken from a video recording at the Blasphemy rehearsal space during the same era.

Regular Version: Black vinyl LP with etching on side B, jacket.
Die Hard Version: Red vinyl LP with etching on side B, jacket, patch and sticker.
