| I would like to know everyones opinions on the label back on black, since theyre controversial on another board I attend, that is a local board. So I want to find out if they are better than theyre rumors. As rumors often occur in smaller circles. Since I figure that this board is a resorce for vinylinfo, and Im concidering buying some BOB vinyls. |

some BoB vinyls are definite No-buys:
Obituary - Xecutioner's Return. Compelte sound-fuckup on 3 out of 5 songs on the B-side.
The Mayhem - Deathcrush LP and DMDS LP are nothing but ridiculous compared to the originals or the awesome DMDS re-release on Ancient Darkness. |

YEZZ, the "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" Deluxe Edition was AMAZING!! When it comes to the "Back On Black" thing, they're just cashing in on the vinyl "kvlt". They're actually doing pretty OK releases, but surely not for the "right" reasons (whatever that may be...). _________________ "Slit my eyes, for they'll remember..." |

| The "rumors" or rather opinions, is that of bad mastering, poor pixel artwork, thin vinyls etc. In short, that they just released things, without doing too much out of it. |

Stay away from the Burzum LPs. They look like absolute shit. The layouts have been redone and look butt-ugly, the artwork was scanned from the CDs so the resolution is shit, the vinyls are wafer-thin, the sleeves are approaching bible-page thinness, and none of the covers are gatefolds like many of the originals were.
The only other experience I've had with Back on Black was the Enslaved "Isa" 2xLP where I got two copies of LP1 instead of one copy of each LP, and the cover was printed on equally shitty paper as the Burzum LPs. Apparently getting two copies of one LP instead of one of each has been a problem for a lot of people with other BoB double LPs as well.
I would not recommend buying any BoB-releases based on the ones I've owned. |

| I don't know about those re-releases you guys mentioned, they did an excellent vinyl version of the last Carpathian Forest though. Glossy paper, heavy vinyl and just perfect sound. |

| The label gives the impression of not being 100% reliable, but sometimes decent, but nothing like owning the originals, but having said that I suppose its a fair argument to say that most people here don't have £500 to spend. |

I totally agree.
I sold mine, I prefer to stick with my original CDs than having those absolutely crappy reissues just for the sake of "owning Burzum vinyls". |

| Back On Black is run by Candlelight/Plastic Head so it's no real surprise that the same care isn't taken in putting out releases and that they tend to use cd art scans- they care about shifting product, not the about the quality of the product they are shifting. It's a shame as there are releases I've had to get for completions sake (Enslaved/Arcturus) that could have been a lot better. |
