I really love DTL's Varcolaci Rising as well as Vril's The Shadow Soul & The Black Sun. In my opinion the melodic sense as well as production value are very similar between those two records. I was pouring through DTL's discography looking for another album that captures the same atmosphere but to no avail. Even his almost immediate followup, Paradise Slaves, has such an extremely different atmosphere. Can anyone recommend other albums by Azgorh (Or any band for that matter) that have similar atmosphere?

The "Tenth Region of the Night" EP by DTL might be what you are looking for. Even if the production is a lot rawer than the last LP.
Really melancholic stuff !

you also may enjoy the Black Funeral LP "ankou and the death fire" as Azgorh wrote on that one and did a spectacular job.

Celtic Blood is where its at. Raw, sloppy, pan flute interludes. Absolutely stunning, its on constant rotation in my home.

Admittedly I haven't heard the two albums mentioned in the OP all the way through, but From the Abyss was definitely a uniquely melodic, at times even Summoning-esque, departure from DtL's more raw back catalogue.

Yes, it was confirmed that a compilation LP with TRotN and "Paradise Slaves" will be released late this year or next year.

Yeah! There are definitely moments on here that remind me of Varcolaci Rising! Thanks!

Yeah you are correct, I should've mentioned this album in my post as it's in the same vein of what I'm looking for.

my favourite DTL albums are An Alignment of Dead Stars and The Blood of the Ancients, can't recommend both enough.

I like "celtic blood", "the serpent's reign" and "blood of the ancients" - especially this track from the later album :

plus I always liked the idea of 06/06/06 7" release - around 2010 there was a reissue by "zyklon-b" label, that may be still be affordable and easy to be found.

DTL along with Moon(Aus) are my current faves on those nights when the ergot is in full effect.
