I really wonder why the LEGION/PERUNWIT split tape ('95) hasn't been mentioned yet. out on dead christ commune whos owner had a band called ABS CONDITUS. both Legion and Abs conditus are exacly what you must search for if you look for early graveland-like tunes.
and now seriously, the best record ever from this early polish stage is ARKONA - Imperium. it sums up everything good from this era: the symphonic yet raw sound, the perfect dose of keyboards, the melodies, all!!! get it now! now!!
Mgla and Cultes des Ghoules ae the best poland has to offer right now, but they do not have that '94 kinda graveland-sound. |

Galgenberg demo + ep are great. Not your average Polish synth clumsiness but more original sounding, brutal BM with strong death/thrash metal overtones.

MYSTERIES!!!!!! (though its probably going to be tuff to track anything down other than some MP3's) if you come across the bootleg picture disc 7" do not hesitate to grab this!!
already mentioned, but HIGHEST PRAISE to Evilfeast for a current act. captures the old spirit quite well though... Revenge is great too! many other good acts have been mentioned at least twice over already

hehehe I bug werewolf prod about this every time I email him. though I know it wont ever happen, I always hope repetition of requests might make something happen. I guess the primary guy behind the band died some years back, so this will basically never be approved or happen

You must've heard all of the early Behemoth releases. They're absolutely incredible, some of my favourite music ever. I'm not sure if you have heard it but the first Arkona album "Imperium" is excellent. Veles "Night On The Bare Mountain" is another classic. You can also try Dagor - "Songs Of The Slav Ground" (Demo 1995), the band My Infinite Kingdom.etc A newer band with some good material in the old vein is Szron. |
