I'm looking to purchase a new stereo system and am curious as to what kind of equipment you use to listen to your favorite black metal? Any recommendations are appreciated!

yeh, really this is important

Info needed

1) Budget limit
2) Space limit
3) Concern or want for other use (movies, etc)
4) Listening (only black metal)
5) Physical limit (can you move/install items yourself or are you weak/disabled/etc)

Cost isn't an issue! I'm more interested in assembling a top quality system than saving money.

Fair enough! Thanks for the replies

1. Budget is Flexible
2. I have plenty of space
3. I would rather focus on a quality system for music. I have a decent 5.1 system for movies and live dvds
4. The two genres I listen to the most are old blues and black metal
5. I am physically fit and have all the tools at my disposal to install or assemble anything. I used to be a luthier professionally for most of my adult life as well as building guitar amps for a company called Sommatone. I am skilled in electronics and basic woodworking.

One more thing of importance would be what sources you use (analog and/or digital).

Klipsch rf-7 (not the post best buy models)
Paired with svs pb16ultra
Should cover you well for both BM and blues/jazz, and have almost no roll off until 15 Hz or 115 dab. Should give you almost 92 dB of dynamic range . A true 1000 W 2 channel amp will be more than enough for 2.1

Will work well to build upgrade and also help futureproof if you ever go 11.4 system around should you ever desire

Vinyl and CD. I'd like to digitize my collection in FLAC format but that's a concern for a different day. I haven't hopped on the cassette craze yet, and I actually sold my vintage cassette collection a few years back so I'm not terribly concerned about missing that feature.

Is there any way to indicate whether or not they are pre-best buy?

Rf-7 mk II older than 2012 is fine. Price tag of 2k pair instead of 1200 is giveaway

He said he also listens to blues

Read much?

He also said/implied he has a big space, do you understand how spl decreases vs distance?

Read my first words. If so, he needs to ask in a blues forum since he'll need a more complete system for that.

Not all Black Metal is lo-fi and I don't exclusively listen to only lo-fi metal. Personally, I'm excited to listen to bands like Nightbringer, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Blut Aus Nord, etc on a powerful system.
