Instead of doing one of the polls I thought I would just ask what's your favorite Acheron release? Although its been a always revolving door of musicians I would have to say "Rites of the Black Mass" is my favorite.

rites of the black mass is my fave with lex talionis being close second. hail victory is good too, but I kinda lost them after that.

what's always annoyed me are those synth interludes. they always destroy the flow of the albums instead of adding to the atmosphere.

I wish they got rereleased without them.

important band though.

Satanic Victory is basically Hail Victory without the interludes (and my favorite stuff from this band, too). Kneel Before the Master's Throne re-released it on vinyl a while back:

Agreed, just as Necros Christos for example. But easy solution: use program button:

Rites of the Black Mass for me. Could do without the interludes, but I never really felt annoyed by them, either.

"Rites of the black mass" for me also.

Along with Rotting Christ "Thy mighty contract" and Impaled Nazarene "Tol cormpt norz norz norz" it made me discover the "second wave of Black Metal", these albums still have a special feeling for me.

I love the interludes in this album, personally I think they really add to the atmosphere.
Often when I think about "Rites of the black mass", Eminenz "Exorial" come to my mind also... I don't say these are similar albums, but it has to do with the fact they come from the same period, that it is Black/Death with "old" sound, the keyboard interludes...

The last Acheron full lenght I bought was "Those who have risen", which I strongly like, so I can't really speak about their 3 last CDs.

Not a problem for me cause I have the first vinyl press that missed the intros to the songs Razz

Same here, I have both lp, but don't really mind the intros. I think my favourite Acheron recording is the demo Rites Of the Black Mass, definitly deserves its own vinyl re-release.

I'm surprised that this hasn't happened already

Those Who Have Risen is awesome, crazy never-ending solos over if some dusty keyboard black metal band started doing Deicide covers.

Rites of the Black Mass

ofcorse

Also Rites of the Black Mass Demo version
which is practically the album without the intros and with rawer production...
Drum tracks on the album are supposedly directly lifted from the demo recording by the way...

I prefer Acheron's demo material. ROTBM (first album) is okay—however, it's a little hard for me to get into the production, though. Prayer of Hell on ROTBM demo is killer—it's so raw and brutal compared to the album version.
