Great band. I don't think I can choose between these albums. Helwetti material is pretty fucking good as well.

Very underrated. I love it all, but Womb of Pestilence is particularly dark and eerie. One of the albums that really best suits being described as 'grim'.

Searching for a copy of Unlighted, if anyone wants to dispose of one...

Womb Of Pestilence

I hope they still plan on releasing new material and at some stage the full lengths get a reissue on vinyl.

I went for Womb as well. Anyone who can provide scans/pictures of any of the interviews they did?

Seconded. Of all the old bands getting LP reissues and box sets I'd ignore most and get a Warloghe box set at the drop of a hat. I dont expect one to be released as I doubt they have the market kick of someone such as Funeral Mist, but would be awesome to be able to get Unlighted or the First Possession on wax.

I remember this band was hyped to hell back in the day.

From Northern Heritage II (2000) zine:

Quote:
Warloghe "The First Possession" CD Drakker prod, DK 007

What I'm holding in my hand must be one of the best Finnish Black Metal albums ever made. I would be impossible to compare this to older and musically different ones such as Beherit's classics etc., but comparing to records what have come during the last few years here, as well as around to world, Warloghe has some advantages: First of all, their attitude and "image" is purely satanic black metal, which is getting minority these days of "normal people" or pagan or ns trend. Second, their music is raw - real black metal, but as opposite to so many "primitive" and "brutal" black metal bands, Warloghe has superior riffs and they actually are masters composing songs. Each of the tracks are solid wholeness without stupid "stop'n'go" breaks, synth/effects mess or technical death metal influence. When you look to bands compare, you can always say Darkthrone, but riffs are different and I'd hear small influence of french band Vlad Tepes!? Record is self recorded with tracker, and sound is not so heavy and thick, but you can easily hear all the intruments and vocals, and it doesn't become powerless, and to me that just what I need. "(most of) best black metal records are not made in real studio" senctence is true and this CD is another good example. In a way Warloghe doesn't do anything new, but the way they do it, raises them far far upon average and utter crap bands what black metal scene is full of. CD is limited to 1000 copies and most likely sold out from Drakkar by the time you read this. LP is out too with one bonus track! Try to track down either of them. They are worth it!

It's amazing how hard it was to track down a proper Black Metal band back in those days. Warloghe was one of the few that delivered the goods.

I'd say Unlighted, Black Tower, then Womb. Drums ruined the first album for me.

The Black Tower is a very good demo. Both albums were boring.

Both albums fucking rule. I would still choose First Possession.

Same as Tireheb. "Tower of Flies" is such a great track. And that Northern Heritage review nailed it right. This album was Black Metal in its purest, rawest form.

"Tower of Flies" is fucking great indeed. That has always been my favorite track on The First Possession.
