I have a great nostalgia for the pre-Legion stuff, but ended up going with Plague Angel.

A tossup between Those of the Unlight and ROM 5:12 for their best

Panzer and Dark Endless are tied imo

This time I voted for Those..., however Fuck Me Jesus, Dark Endless and Opus Nocturne are all unbeatable too in my eyes. Really essential stuff if you ask me. As for the rest of it...well, I dunno. Some good, some bad.

"the sun has failed" is my favorite marduk song, hands down. they kind of lost me after "opus nocturne". they managed to make "fast" boring somehow.

Much like the sun, my first time with Marduk failed. I guess I had to give my tastes a little more time to develop from the school days because some years later I gave them another chance and started to "get" Opus Nocturne in particular, then got more and more into the death metal beginnings of the band, then noticed how Those Of The Unlight and even Heaven Shall Burn were not as dull as they first seemed. The speed and sound of HSB is probably what makes it seem a little one dimensional, but it's not an album without detail or variation certainly.

I kind of drew the line at Nightwing. Or more like over it? That's the one I haven't revisited in a long time because I'm still gathering my might. I wonder how it is now. Panzer Division Marduk was fun for one day. Or half. Then I just let them go.

Plague Angel is good and intense, but there are weaker filler tracks like Blutrache and Perish in flames. I understand they were trying to add more variety to their usual intense songs, but they got better than that on ROM 512 which is why its a superior album. I think its definitely one of their best, and proved that the band has a sense of songwriting unlike the band's usual criticism of being bland blast beat laden bm.

A hard call. I voted for Those of the Unlight, because that is really the first album that I heard and I have certain, strong associations. But, I am definitely in the minority to whom Panzerdivision Marduk speaks.

I endorse post-1994 metal.

This.Although I own almost the entire discography, first two were and still are true hateful black metal with the dark feeling and the correct sound.
I respect them however, their concept still remains the same.
p.s. Dan Swano ruined the sound of the ''Opus Nocturne''.On different occasion, the album would be fantastic. The compositions are great-the sound plastic.

My #1 is Opus, a perfect. BM record.
Marduk has more good records than bad ones in my opinion.
