What are some albums that have 1 song that is far and away better than the rest of the album? Good album, bad album, doesn't really matter.

asphyx - the rack - evocation
This song is massive. From the opening riff it means business. the crawling doomy parts set the stage perfecty for the speedy riff fest in the middle. Not to mention the haunting lyrics.
obliteration - black death horizon - ascendance
An entire song of buildup to the sweet dueling solos near the end. Perfect pacing.
abigor - verwüstung - eye to eye at armageddon
Crushing drums, especially for black metal. Riffs are inventive and keep switching it up until the very end.

Biscaya-Howl in the Sky

This isn't a favorite album and there is only one great track on the Lp.

Celtic Frost - Inner Sanctum - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5DyJJ4SV8c

Not too great of an album, but Inner Sanctum is very much an impressive track, one of my favorite CF songs. It easily could've been on the To Mega Therion album, which is my absolute favorite.

Beyond Creation - Omnipresent Perception from Aura, I just can't enjoy the rest of the album

black flame - mundus patet

the rest of the album is pretty samey but this song has a killer break and atmosphere for days

100% agree.

Hades/Old Funeral have one stand-out song on their complete discography, and they know it.

Megadeth's "Black Friday" on Peace Sells... has always been my favorite track off this killer album. Many, many breakdowns

I often agree with you, but can't agree on this one, both Hades albums (let's pretend that "Hades Almighty" never existed) have some standout and catchy tunes despite of their slightly monotonous style - Again Shall Be, Unholy Congregation, Awakening of Kings, etc. Alone Walkyng is actually one of my least favourite Hades songs (maybe also because they recycled it so many times).

"Into the Field of Screaming Souls" from Cultus Sanguine's S/T EP. While the other songs certainly aren't bad, they pale in comparison to this hypnotic masterpiece.

Running Wild's "Treasure Island" off of Pile of Skulls comes to mind. The rest of the album is good but that song is seriously perfect.

Nothing else on the album comes close to this speed or agression.
Recon - Behind Enemy Lines - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQZgtNE3E5s

Classic old Slough Feg sounding song on an otherwise mediocre album. Also the closest thing we'll get to new Brocas Helm material.
Slough Feg - Tactical Air War

For the longest time I would have said Left Hand Path for the title track but "bitter loss" has grown to be one of my favorite Entombed tracks.

Darkthrone 'Ravishing Grimness' from the album of the same name always struck me as one of their best songs on an otherwise average release.
