I haven't been following what went on in the last few weeks and just found out that Jon of Dissection has comitted suicide on 16th of August. While many of you may know it already, it comes as a shock to me. I have enjoyed Dissection as well as Jon's other projects for many years, the masterpieces he created were/are some of the finest black/death metal. You will be fucking missed comrade, may darkness show you the way.

I liked the demos, 7" and first album. They became pretty fruity after that. The new album is one of the worst shit ever.

I disagree. Storm of the light's Bane kills.... I can see why some people were turned off by a big label like Nuclear blast, I didn't care about that. I haven't heard the entire Reinkaos album, just a few songs, it's different but not bad by any means. |

| As I have already stated elsewhere I've never got in too deep in his musical creations. Only The Black really caught my attention thus far. But I always appreciated his attitude and had a lot of respect for his dedication towards his belief. |

Yeah, The Black was great, that was before Dissection If I'm correct. There was also Satanized which was really primitive stuff, it only appeared on "the Past is Alive" compilation. If I'm not mistaken Jon also filled in on one of the Nifelheim albums, Devil's Force. The guy lived for black metal and satanism while so many others are bunch of posers who have no guts to do what they sing about. They can fuck off and choke on Christ's cock. |

Man, you must've lived on the moon to have missed out on that!! I think everything up to "Storm Of The Light's Bane" is incredibly essential!! Surely one of thee bands to make a difference, especially when it comes to having a pretty melodic approach, yet still being dark, sinister and far from cheesy! I actually can't see why anyone could seriously NOT like SOTLB, except for the fact, that it was released on NB...which is the most pathetic reason ever to not like an album. Fuck label politics, it's merely the music that counts!!
P.S. I actually think that even "Reinkaos" has it's moments, yet still haven't come to terms with that one completely...

The classic DISSECTION material is some of the best Metal ever composed.
The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that when Jon died, it received more reaction and attention than when Quorthon passed. I guess it just received more media attention because of the nature of his death. |
