HiM is just some goth metal for teen girls, or whatever.

Yeah, it's not easy to find more recent bands that play raw d-beat punk as they are very underground, but it is the way it always was. About 90's, Dismachine is one of my faves, dis + harsh grind. Social Genocide from Austria were great, one of the best ever. US always had good dis influenced bands, too.

About early 80's stuff, Negative FX is mandatory. Borrowed that LP to someone and never get it back. Real intense US hardcore punk.

That LP was reissued by Taang recently. Agreed it's great. A few years back I bought the CD that has that combined with the Last Rights EP. I like that stuff a lot more than Choke's later bands.

Wolfbrigade were better when they were called Wolfpack, IMHO, especially the first two albums.

Favorite Scandinavian d-beat album is probably the Valvontakomissio album, which no one ever seems to talk about.

I am not that much into Wolfpack but different style, yes. I like Valvontakomissio album, drummer from HiM but valid part of 90's underground.

Back to Sweden, Dislickers were great for not so well known bands. Would like to hear more real rawk from there, hope someone will continue the legacy.

I assume you might know them but if you don't, you have plenty of old stuff to listen to from Sweden in classics like Discard, Dischange, Meanwhile, Shitlickers, Crude SS, Moment Maniacs (Wolfpack+Marduk), Warvictims ...

Lately, I really dig Paranoid, Sex Dwarf, Infernöh, Krömosom (although not Swedish), ...

I don't recall that Dischange album being very good, but when they switched over to the name Meanwhile I like them a lot more. First two full lengths are killer, third one is pretty good as well. Don't have all the EPs and the later stuff by them.

An obvious one is Totalitar, which I'm sure were discussed here. Same thing with the earlier lineup of Disfear back when they were doing d-beat stuff.

Uncurbed's Peacepunklovelife is great as well, though not strictly d-beat by the numbers. Same with the first Fleshrevels album.

I wish that Shitlickers stuff would get reissued legitimately - way too many crappy bootlegs in the last several years is all I ever see. Crude SS are in a similar boat.

The Moment Maniacs album didn't grab me when I heard some stuff from it years ago, but maybe I should revisit that one. Don't remember if I ever heard Warvictims or not...

About 90s Swedish stuff, Loud Pipes was some of the the best hardcore punk played by metalheads ever.

Thanx for recommendations, yeah, I know the classic stuff. Didn't listened Loud Pipes back in times, discovered it lately, r'n'r + d-beat is quite popular lately, and sometimes too happy sounding for me, Loud Pipes have some of it with real desperate street feel, great stuff. Should listen more Moment Maniacs too.

Dödläge and Geiger Counter are some good sounding recent bands, both from the states.

I obviously unintentionally forgot Disfear, which is a must. I like all of their records, but the first stuff is great, supper aggressive.

And I do prefer Dischange over Meanwhile. I think that record is like the missing step between Discharge and Wolfpack. Simply a must.

I haven't gone through this thread much, but there's a newer band called Deathwish that's really good. They're touring with DRI now. Anyway the singer/ bass player is a pretty old face in the American punk underground from bands like Remission, Default, Wartorn, etc. Deathwish is really great motorhead dbeat without being stereotypical dis - whatever bands.

If you are looking for nonPC but very raw swedish stuff, check out Striktlickers.

I hear you, Loud Pipes are lightyears apart from your basic "Motörpunk" or whatever! Much more aggressive.

Moment Maniacs is OK, not THAT hardcore punk... more like some d-beat crossed with Entombed ("To Ride...") style. But it's always good to hear Jonsson cos he's probably the best vocalist of all time for stuff like this...

Really picky with hardcore punk, but the ones I do like are:

Discharge-Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing and all the EP's and 7"s from that era

Cro-mags-The Age of Quarrel

Agnostic Front-first 2

Amebix-first 2

Minor Threat-all

Misfits-danzig era

Anti-Cimex-everthing I've heard, I don't have any of their of their shit though.

I know there's plenty of old hardcore punk gems, but been devoted to black, death and thrash for most of my life. Didn't dig too much into HC due to the PC nature of many of the bands in the genre.
