Killer thick American hardcore with a nice rock 'n' roll touches. Fans of Germs, Discharge, Turbonegro (hot cars & ass cobra lp's), Black Flag (Dez era) and Motorhead should check 'em out. |

they have one record, that seems to be dedicated to the whole board members : "records collectors are pretentious assholes", eh eh
But nice stuff. Their Feel the Darkness album is maybe better because more brutal and closer to Metal.
What's about Turbonegro by the way ? I listened to Scandinavian Leather and didn't find anything relevant enough... Will try to listen to the albums you said though... |

Poison Idea are great! Definitely the best thing Portland has ever produced musically. My favorite albums are "Kings Of Punk" and "War All The Time." But they suck ass live these days. |

I love Poison Idea! Turbonegro were obviously heavily influenced by Poison Idea, especially their "Ass Cobra" LP owes a lot to P.I.'s "Feel the Darkness" and "Blank Blackout Vacant" albums.
"Just to get away" is one of the best songs ever. |

Great to see the Poison Idea love on this board. I dig all their records. Their latest record (the last with Pig) is fucking great. Reminds me alot of the WAR ALL THE TIME LP. Killer shite.
Unfortunately I never go to see them live. I always hear their shows ruled heavily.
Turbonegro's Ass Cobra is bigtime influenced by PI. They recorded some of those songs in Portland during their 94 tour. I even think some of Hank's vocal delivery sounds alot like Jerry A. |

This is my favorite punk/hardcore band of all time!!!
The music is ripping with great fast time changes, and the vocals really feel heartfelt and honest to me, screaming their fucking guts out.
And the obvious Motorhead influence doesn't hurt either. Heh.
Check out Totalitar from Finland, and World Burns To Death & Severed Head Of State from the US for crust stuff that I fell really heavily borrows from P.I.'s aggressive hardcore style. |

Poison Idea - tedious 'rock 'n' roll' style punk, how they managed to stretch out a career that lasted as long as it did is beyond me. |

Poison Idea worship here. Feel the Darkness is my personal favorite, with 'Deep Sleep' being one of my all time favorite songs ever.
I personally didn't care for the last "new" record they did. It reminded of Offspring or something equally limp. Oh well... serious drug addictions only burn brightly musically for so long...
RIP Pig Champion. |
