Legend has it that the original recording of Legion only lasted 20 minutes,
forcing the band to re-record the entire album at a slower pace.

That actually happened during the recording sessions of Once Upon the Cross, not Legion. You can hear it in the music, I've always had the impression that OUtC was slowed down somehow (smart move imho as it adds to the groove).

Legion is a good album but the self titled is one of the best death metal albums ever.

Debut for the songs, Legion for the fucking INSANE brutality. Both essential of course.

The s/t can't be beat in my opinion. Sacrificial Suicide. Enough said.

Close, but self titled wins it.

DEICIDE needs to do a cd like the first 2 ASAP...haven't made a great one since "Serpents of the Light".

Morbid Tales or To Mega Therion? Melissa or Don't Break The Oath? Cola or Pepsi?

This reminds me, how much do the first two go for on LP?

"Legion" because its sheer brutality and overall frenziness.

I gave both a spin today because I wasn't sure about them. I have to go for legion. the s/t is a very good death metal record, but legion is simply unmatched in this satanic brutal death metal style. plus it has dead but dreaming, behead the prophet and revocate the agitator. the only minor flaw it has are benton's one-dimensional vocals.

Any Deicide record's instrumental genius is overtaken by Benton's theatrics. That's always bothered me about them.

Benton was serious back around the S/T and Legion. Now he's another lame rockstar... I mean fuck, have you watched their live DVD in London? Yuck, he seems quite stupid.
