Living in Vancouver at the moment and I'm looking for recommendations of some killer recent releases from lesser known black/death/heavy metal bands from around BC, if there is any. Demos, EPs or Albums. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lived there for a few years in the past, found it to be pretty shite in terms of local bands. Only bands that stick in my mind were Limb From Limb and Goatsblood.

Go buy smack and overdose in the Cobalt Hotel instead.

A seriously fucking weird city.

greetings from the Island.

bands i like, bands i don't. bands i've heard, bands i've heard of and bands don't ever want too again from Vancouver: Mitochondrion, Auroch, Hoopsnake, Tyrant's Blood, Garotting Deep, Ahna, Funeral Circle, Archspire, Thor, Limb From Limb, Anciients, Bison, Haggatha, Skagos, Golers

+bunch more (use MA ya lazy bastard), these are just the ones that have popped up on my radar too my delight/misery. more quantity than quality......

.....not much better over here though, if you ever find yourself on the island: Burialkult, Galdra, Iskra, Altered Dead, Amnesian, Mendozza, Holocaust Lord, Bungus, Sixbrewbantha, Harrow, Euthanized (HA). all range from 'good' too 'ok i guess', not even gonna mention the stuff that's less than that cause let me tell you it's baaaaaaaaad. too much fucking Punk or Metal-tourist nonsense out here. meh.

Also: Trajeto De Cabra, Ahna, KONFORM, Necroholocaust, Baptists, Shooting Spree, Bridgeburner, Greasy/DC, Shithawk, Hemptress, OSK, Mass Grave, Hand of the Horsewitch, Honour & Devour, Merv O))), Throat Slitter. Pretty much the only bands I havent seen mentioned so far.

In what ways? Just curious is all. Alberta definitely has a very strong death/black scene to say the least... But I enjoy BC for the plentiful grind/crust, power violence and doom mostly.
