Wouldn't it be better making the tome of the records visible so you can find which record you are looking for easily? just curious.
Also, if the aperture of the sleeves is on top (can't see if its on top on the picture) and the records too, they will collect more dust like that.

yes i know this argument and you are most likely right but for me it just does not feel right to keep them in other position , i have only like 200 records and picking the right one is a bit frustrating so maybe i'll rearrange them in the future when my collection expand , as for the dust dont worry they are dust protected , and the next level shelf is just above this one.

A question for the Kallax owners (which probably has been asked x times already):

Are the drawers that can be bought for Kallax suitable for tapes? If they are - how many can you put in one box/unit?

Is there a good solution for 7" as well?

I currently use two Billy´s for my CD storage but honestly that sucks quite a bit as they are too deep for may taste so space is wasted.

Any recommendations are welcome.

They used to sell a model (with a different name that I can't remember) which was basically a Billy but not as deep. It was ideal for CD's. But when I went back to buy another one a few years later it had left their catalogue.

I ended up buying this one instead. Actually we bought three, cut one in half and now we have two very high CD-towers. Be aware, one of these actually holds around 800 CD's and not 1080 as stated.

These are fine for CDs (as well as tapes I guess, but I use them for my CDs). 7" can't fit, here's a picture to show you how it is (Absurd EP to show the actual size of the drawers) :

Humus, that CD rack looks quite neat, I will look into buying one (or two... I should count my CD stash, yikes).

Jorm, thanks for info and pics. Hm, looks possible but not ideal. Considering the amount of tapes this might also get somewhat pricey in the end.

Maybe I should look into a hack/DIY variation approach of the Ikea stuff I intend to keep.
The new Kapalika Kave would allow for some experiments, hah.

More suggestions are welcome.

I've tried putting tapes in one of the drawers. You can put up to 44 tapes per drawer. So if you buy a 4x2 Kallax + 8 drawer cases (2 drawers each) that makes 704 tapes for 190€ (French prices). Not the cheapest option indeed, but it looks nice and will prevent your tapes from collecting dust.

I recently bought drawers for the Kallax to store my cds but I found they were too small. I could only fit one “row” of cds. Maybe I need to try again

You can put 2 rows of 25 to 30 CDs (standard jewelcases and digis). Don't make them too tight because reaching the second row might not be easy.

I had a look at the drawer cases and while they look nice enough (would replace the handles but yeah...) that is indeed way too expensive. Probably I will just use paper/carton boxes and use them with Kallax.
I plan to get one 4x2 Kallax and one in 4x3 (those are new I think) for LPs, tapes and assorted shit.
