Those who mentioned they have their LPs in milkcrates and such, do you keep them covered from dust/dirt floating or is it exposed in the open?

I went to IKEA a few months back and bought a 2-pack of 'Kasett'. Looked cool as I thought it would be a perfect fit for LPs and it came with a lid.
Bad thing is that the LPs are too tall and the lid doesn't close.
I have a few LPs inside the box slanting at an angle just to secure the lid closing.

Are there any LPs boxes out there with lids to close properly?

Air is good. Unless you want your records to dry rot.

I keep mine out of reach... of the crayon coloring two year old having free reign since learning to walk.

Must keep them pristine in the hopes that my son will one day appreaciate the music... you know, to understand why his toy truck is made of wood... and every birthday it just gets a new coat of paint.

Must protect and expand the collection at all costs !!! Laughing

It's not about the size of the collection. I have meet people who had nothing near anything you could call a "collection", still they would litteraly go through anything for this band. Smile

It would be cool to see your collection though, do you collect any special areas / items?

No, nothing really special or out of the oridinary. I just get whatever I can find/afford, whether it's LP's, cd's , dvd's,blu ray (flight 666),VHS, bootleg dvds/vhs, shirts, action figures, etc..... I don't have multiple copies of anything though, such as different pressings of the LP's etc...

I have designed my own furniture based on my demands. Certantly is cheaper and cooler than any Ikeaīs shit, also better quality beacuse itīs solid wood, not conglomerate.

I asked a good friend of mine, who is a professional woodworker, to make me a custum record shelve. He adviced me to buy Ikea because he could not make something like Expedit himself for the same amount as Ikea sells them.

I picked up some of those LP boxes recently because I'm moving to a new place and needed sturdy boxes to transport all my records in. The problem is, once I assemble them and fill with LPs and then pick them up, the weight is too much for the bottom and it wants to come apart. At first I thought, maybe these aren't meant for hauling around, but they DO have handles on the side...Maybe I'm not putting them together correctly?

For usual storage I have a black bookshelf I bought at Walmart, but it's shit because the shelves are crap quality wood and are completely warped from the weight of the vinyl.
