This is where you post your special method of packing records.

Here's my method that I've perfected over the past 10 years of sending out records.

1. Take the vinyl/innersleeve out of the LP jacket. Leave the innersleeve in jacket if it's printed on glossy poster paper because there is almost no way to prevent spine rips on those things. Put vinyl in plain white sleeve in this case.

2. Place everything in poly sleeve to prevent ring wear and scuff marks on jacket. This is very important if you're sending multiple records.

3. Place in smaller box with strong corners. Do not use shitty GZ boxes.

4. Place smaller box in larger box with strong corners. Double boxing is very important if you don't want any corner damage.

For distro orders I usually single box using Priority Mail boxes but stuff the ends with paper or tyvek so there is about 1.5" of "buffer" zone in case the box is dropped.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT THE POST OFFICE WILL DROP YOUR BOX. YOU MUST PACK IT WITH THIS AS THE BASELINE AND PACK IT ACCORDINGLY.

hmm, i don't mail out a whole lot of records. maybe a couple per month. i usually just use the big bubblewrap (i can get it from work for free Cool ) i take the lp out of the jacket and stick them in a plastic sleeve. that seems to work so far. i've gotten some from europe wrapped in nothing but newspaper and arrived in perfect condition. i got one from australia today that only had another piece of cardboard as protection. the paper sleeve was torn up, but the jacket was fine. oh well...

I would like to know where to get these hard-cardboxes from! I mean the ones you used for Black Witchery and Blasphemy die hards that you have sent to me (Priority Mail boxes)

We usually use the ones from www.protected.de

They will be put outside the covers and wrapped within news-paper.

Bigger orders we try to ship double-boxed.

Also important is to write "Handle with care", or even better, us a red sticker with the sign of a glas on it.

hello everyone, i'm new here.

i will contribute so here goes nothing, i send out a ton of records each month and i fucking hate when they come to me destroyed

and i'd like to mention that if you use a bubble mailer i will KILL you!!! bubble mailers are not for mailing lps and i wish whoever uses them would fucking die before i kill them!!!!!

first i take the vinyl out of the jacket. like Yosuke said, if there is an inner picture sleeve, i remove the record from that and place the vinyl in a separate inner sleeve. but pic sleeve or not, the record never gets shipped in the jacket.

place the inner sleeve(s) into the jacket, and place the jacket into an outer sleeve. also place the vinyl into the outer sleeve, but outside of the jacket. it is best to use a heavy outer sleeve, it gives the record support just like a firm fitting sock can give your ankle support.

then, i place the lp into a record mailer, and i sandwich it between heavy cardboard, or styrofoam. the cardboard should be just a hair bigger than the lp jacket, and it should fit snug when you close the lp mailer.

i seal the lp mailer.

then, this is my little trick.

i take 2 large pieces of heavy cardboard, and sandwich the entire taped up and packed lp mailer between them. this will guarantee for the most part that you won't get any corner damage.

i tape the extra cardboard up, and it's good to go.

you can use any cardboard box for the outer layers really, just as long as they are bigger than the lp mailer inside.

let me also add that i have an entire mountain of mailers that i recycle from shit that i was sent, so i have virtually unlimited access to cardboard.

and btw Yosuke your corners have been sharp as helll, you pack nicely. thanks

EDIT also make the post office stamp the package with their little FRAGILE stamp in red. not sure how much it helps but it's an extra precaution.

I go dumpster diving daily for my packaging and the key is double wall corrugated cardboard and some pink anti stat wrap that I always seem to find in bulk.Keeps the records from sliding around in the box.

Inserts are important to because the postal service will toss it around.I have seen it first hand.

Yosuke, you need to share some record packing tips with Joel Grind (or whoever it is he has mail out the Toxic Holocaust merch)!!!.....I got some records from him and they werent even in a box! He just put a piece of cardboard over each side and covered everything in tape.....and used NO padding of any kind. He did however take all the records in the innersleeves out of the jackets, except on one he took the actual record out and put it against the back of the LP jacket and put it all in a plastic sleeve which ended up scuffing up the back of the glossy LP jacket really bad and made a big ring mark on the back of the LP jacket!!!

might work ok sometimes for 7" records, as long as they are between thick cardboard inside the mailer. but overall, they are a cop out. use a fuckin' box or be shot in the head
