[My fav. DIY release is the Witches Hammer 7" with hand printed covers. I spent 8 hours embossing the logos on those things and they came good.
How do you perform the embossing yourself? is there any special tool that can be bought off the shelf form some crafts shop or something? I've been searching for ways and methods on the Net but thus far have been unable to come up with anything remotely similar to what i want to do. _________________ Looking for DEATH METAL bands!

It's called thermo embossing. It's a powder that melts when you heat it up and gives an embossed feel to the image. It's a time consuming process that's difficult to do in large quantity. It took me about 20 covers before I got the hang of things.
Oh yeah, you can buy the kits at craft and hobby stores. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

| Quote: | | Anyway, itīs maybe just me, but I have a faible for the "bootleg look", he he ! I just canīt imagine some old 90īs death metal 7"EPīs with a cover done like the NIFELHEIM / SAD EX Split 7"EP for example. |
I also like this look and have done many "cheap" looking covers... Witches Hammer 7", Death Church 7", Chicago Metal Hell 7", Funerary Pit 7", Outbreak of Evil 7" series, Black Goat LP, Pest MLP, Witches Hammer canadian speed metal LP, etc. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I did some research, but you need to draw the "to be embossed" area upfront with some special pen, right ? I think thatīs the point whatīs the biggest problem. |

You get a rubber stamp made and they sell special ink pads with clear adhesive material. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

Do you have a close up pic of the said embossed area? Would really like to have a real good close up look as all i can imagine now are those that are done from the factory. thanks _________________ Looking for DEATH METAL bands!

They're like those embossed business cards. I'm sure you've seen those before.
_________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

Music is nothing but soundwaves without human emotions, right? I like vinyl releases because the visual becomes part of the whole listening experience. Just imagine if Morbid Tales came without a poster and you couldn't stare at Tom G. Warrior's hand written texts while playing it at volume 10. |
Damn, that's poetic; words to live by for any label...
I remember in one of the Witches Hammer lp interviews (the one with Ray Prizmic, so must be Stretching lp?), at the end he thanks "all those guys from NWN" for doing such a great job on the album. Even with those earlier releases it seemed impossible that one guy was doing everything! Best post ever! I personally wouldn't buy a die hard for any reason but to sell, unless it had some exclusive auditory gems on it. |
