as was said its like mainstream rock now with turtleneck sweaters and lots of rock star posturing onstage. Satyr must envision himself as a cross between Danzig and Bono. One of the shittiest live bands I've seen in years.

I saw em back in 99 with Krisiun and Angelcorpse and even then they weren't very impressive but these days its just dreadful.

Is 17 dollars expensive?
When they played in Finland this year I think the price was 30 euros.

32 or 35 euros in Greece where the common worker gets 600/700 euros
per month.

Pearl Room sucked. It was alright for a while, maybe 5 years ago..... they had cheap beers ($2-$3) and the place had decent sound/sight lines...it made the 1-1/12 hour drive from Chicago somewhat worth it.

Then they started charging $5 for even a shitty beer, and charging $5 to go outside and have a smoke...plus the bouncers and bartenders were major pricks.

Double Door, on the other hand is a great venue. No complaints about that place, I wish every band played there.

..... $17 isnt really expensive by itself,if a good band is playing, but for Satryicon, it sure as hell is.

i saw them on the us tour with immortal and they reminded me of midnight oil . . . i have to say i didn't hate the new album. it's not unlistenable. i think music like that could use a few more drum fills though. it would make it more interesting. it's so square and blocky.

A lot of Satyricon hatred here!

Anyway, I am seeing them in a few days in NYC.
I will give a show review the next day, haha.

However, I ..... like the last 3 Satyricon cds quite a bit.
Especially "Volcano".

I saw them once, in 2000 with Immortal and Immortal destroyed Satyricon that night I must say. It was at the Wetlands (RIP).

I got a free ticket to Satyricon a week ago and checked it out. I am a fan of material up to Nemesis Divina, but didn't like what I've heard up to Rebel Extravaganza, and after that haven't paid any attention. That said, it was ridiculously more boring than I expected, and I expected it to be boring. I was hoping at least seeing Frost on drums would be a hoot, but they played primarily simple rock songs with nothing interesting musically going on at all. The volume was too quiet so there wasn't even any heaviness in the rock vibe. Satyr looked like a poser greaser dude. At some point he asked the crowd "What do you want to hear next!" and after a bit of mumbling from the crowd and a couple shouts of "Mother North" he responded with "I am just going to pretend I didn't just hear someone say 'FUCK OFF'." ahaha! What a lame response! They ended the set with Mother North of course, but their sound was set up to play midtempo rock music, so when they played this faster track the guitars sounded like mush. The only good thing about the show was Toxik Holocaust selling used shirts for $3 , so I picked up a Mutilator shirt.

I really don't like Nemesis Divinia all that much. Quite boring and by the numbers to my ears. You should check out Rebel... again, it really is a good, caustic album. It has a hell of vibe to it, and Frost's best drum performance by far. It really is their most 'extreme' release.

I just got back from the show and had a great time. The setlist was as expected; I only knew 2 songs (from Nemesis Divina). Frost fucking killed it. I still think he's one of the tightest drummers around.
