I think I might have extras of issue 7. I'll let everyone know soon. I have a big stack of zines here that I haven't added to the site due to lack of time. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

This zine was OK, but I never really got into it after the first few issues.
It's true all the best/quality zines are pretty much dead at the moment. There's some like Convivial Hermit, The Sinister Flame and WMS which are quite supreme, but that's pretty much it these days.
I look forward to the new Petrified zine, too. |

Why should Costa know more than me or ChapelofDoom? Both of us contributed to Desecration of Virgin back than with reviews, etc. and King is a mate of us since a decade. I know what he is doing and what not...
And he still lives in Germany. I have all his contacts like mobile/private-phone number, snail and email address... _________________

Isten still exists and releases 16-pages zines every now and then (2 zines already out in the last 18 months). So its more like 7 outdated newsflyers at once but a pleasure to read. You can order them over the webpage isten.net if I am not mistaken. |

Yeah I had those short issues in the distro. I miss the days when he did full printed issues. It was one of the best out there. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

Sorry to hijack this thread but it wouldn't it be good to have a thread dedicated to old classic zines?
One of the most amazing zines to me was U.S.D. (ULTIMATE SPEEDCORE DISLOCATION) from France circa 1987-89. This zine was a true underground bible. They were the first to cover heavily the crazy South American scene... They gave crazy props to SARCOFAGO (If I remember well, all 3 issues had SARCOFAGO on the cover, hahaha!) and ran interview with every important and über-obscure Brazilian band. I started trading tapes with a couple of the editors at the time and they introduced me to the best, most extreme stuff at the time. I'll never thank them enough for making me a tape of "INRI" back then. The zine also covered grindcore, extreme hardcore (Japanese...), it was truely great! The U.S.D. editors were Laurent (who later did Peardrop zine and is now the main man behind Listenable Records), Hervé (who started Osmose Productions shortly after), and a couple of crazy tape-traders who also started their own labels...
Two other great and influential French zines were of course the infamous D.O.D. (DECIBEL OF DEATH), whose editor Laurent is now the brain behind SNAKEPIT zine, and the excellent, very underrated DECAYIN' MAGGOT. |

| DoV was a decent mag but nowhere near as cultish and legendary as some people want us to believe. What I disliked about it was the total lack of negative reviews and critical perspective, at times it seemed like every crap band from Peru/Bolivia/El salvador/Kazakistan was the best thing since sliced bread. As long as they were hailing from third world countries, he had a fetish for them no matter how awful musicians they might have been. The reason why none of those bands ever made it big has nothing to do with any 'exotic/UG/antitrend' attitude whatsoever. Most of them were horrible bands performing uninsteresting shitty music, period. |
