The Rack-The guitar tone is so raw and Martin's voice is brutal yet strained as if he was in absolute agony...maybe Bob and Eric were pouring hot wax on him when he recorded the vocals...who knows?
Last One On Earth-Just as brutal as The Rack but maybe a bit cleaner sound. It crushes. Oh wait i'm sorry it krushes!!!
Asphyx(AKA self titled)-No more Martin? No more Bob? Oh wait Eric Daniels is still here and his guitar will kill you. This might be the heaviest album...but aren't they all heavy? Also Ron Van Pol's vocals are pretty damn good...okay he's not Martin but good nonetheless.
Embrace The Death-Originally recorded in 1990 but not released until 1996. When people talk about the old days or the ancient feeling of death metal you better be thinking about this release. 'Nuff said!
God Cries-Eric Daniels isn't on this album and it shows. Considered by many as their weakest album and I agree. This just aint Asphyx. Sorry!
Feeding On Angels(as Soulburn) and On THe Wings Of Inferno-Wannes steps in on bass and vocals and he does one hell of a job but then again you knew this because of Pentacle. The classic style of Asphyx has returned on these albums and this makes me happy.
Death..The Brutal Way-After many years the dutch death machine returns with Bob, Wannes, Martin, and new guitarist Paul who continues the tradition of Eric Daniels by playing brutal, simple, heavy riffs that shake the earth. If this is the last album they ever release i'd be okay with that because it rules so fucking hard.

This is a pretty good summary.

The new one really floors me.

The Rack is probably my second favorite, Embrace the Death or the self-titled being the favorite.

Last One on Earth is like a sparser version of The Rack

Crush the Cenotaph sounds more like a Slayer-influenced band but it's really good nonetheless.

God Cries is 100% fail

Crush The Cenotaph has my favourite sound, which to me defines Asphyx.

HOODED MENACE and the mighty ASPHYX team up for a split 7"EP!

The release will be unleashed by Doomentia Records in late 2009 or more likely in 2010.

You mean the mighty Hooded Menace and Aspyhx, don't you? Wink

Seriously, does the release feature new songs by Hooded Menace? Can't find any info on Doomentia's site. A release of the horror movie themes the guys recorded would be great.

The answer is yes.

Does the yes also count for the horror themes? Hope so. They're too darn good to rest unreleased.

LAST ONE ON EARTH!!

Definitely the heaviest, noisiest, and overall greatest ASPHYX album. Van Drunen's best vocal performance, plus heaviest guitar and bass production in any ASPHYX album and totally BRUTAL songwritting make this THE Asphyx album! imo.

The Rack or Embrace the Death may be the darker ones when it comes to overall atmosphere, but LAST ONE ON EATH is definitely the best when it comes to sheer brutality and slow and fucking heavy songwriting. Also Van Drunen's vocals on this album are pretty much the best performance he's done in his career.

The Rack / Embrance the Death wins, but Last one on Earth is also great! Never heard God Cries, but On the Wings of Inferno is good album.

Last One on Earth for sure. Also I must add the godliness of the livetrack "Evocation" on the "Crush the Cenotaph" MCD. It BLEW me away when I got that. Overall an incredible band and one of the first of the dutch style I got into.
