Classic examples of the "German disease".

Embrace the Death should be mentioned more often as well - true, true.

Almost all the songs have been re-recorded on later albums (except 2, if I'm not wrong) so that's probably the reason why I tend to "forget" it.
Shame on me !!! Embarassed Wink
This album shows a rawer and darker side of ASPHYX which is really great too !

Yeah, they were re-recorded, but still, the unmatched level of rawness and filth on that recording is just untouchable.

Asphyx is one of my favorite bands ever. I saw them at the Maryland Deathfest this year and they fucking slayed!!! As far as their releases...here's what I think...

The Rack-The guitar tone is so raw and Martin's voice is brutal yet strained as if he was in absolute agony...maybe Bob and Eric were pouring hot wax on him when he recorded the vocals...who knows?
Last One On Earth-Just as brutal as The Rack but maybe a bit cleaner sound. It crushes. Oh wait i'm sorry it krushes!!!
Asphyx(AKA self titled)-No more Martin? No more Bob? Oh wait Eric Daniels is still here and his guitar will kill you. This might be the heaviest album...but aren't they all heavy? Also Ron Van Pol's vocals are pretty damn good...okay he's not Martin but good nonetheless.
Embrace The Death-Originally recorded in 1990 but not released until 1996. When people talk about the old days or the ancient feeling of death metal you better be thinking about this release. 'Nuff said!
God Cries-Eric Daniels isn't on this album and it shows. Considered by many as their weakest album and I agree. This just aint Asphyx. Sorry!
Feeding On Angels(as Soulburn) and On THe Wings Of Inferno-Wannes steps in on bass and vocals and he does one hell of a job but then again you knew this because of Pentacle. The classic style of Asphyx has returned on these albums and this makes me happy.
Death..The Brutal Way-After many years the dutch death machine returns with Bob, Wannes, Martin, and new guitarist Paul who continues the tradition of Eric Daniels by playing brutal, simple, heavy riffs that shake the earth. If this is the last album they ever release i'd be okay with that because it rules so fucking hard.

I didn't review the demos or ep's but trust me...it's all good!!!

song-wise I actually like the new one best despite the weird production.

second fave would be last one on earth due to the massive slaying songs. somehow the rack never did it for me.

The Rack - all time classic for me, the title track kills.

That's exactly the reason why "Embrace the Death" is the only Asphyx record I have and need.

"Embrace the death" + "Last one on earth".
Btw all Asphyx albums are killers and also "Feeding on angels" recorded under the Soulburn monicker is one of my top death metal albums!

Complete WORSHIP to the Soulburn album!
ARGHHH!
Always get the chills listening to it.
Wannes's vocals are just sinister on that recording.

wow, nobody mentioned the same titled Album "ASPYHX", which is a Milestone.
My Fave is Last one on Earth, but I canīt believe that "ASPHYX" was never issued on Vinyl.
