Cause Of Death, James Murphy slays on that album. Body Bag!

Frank Watkins plays in Gorgoroth as well, quite surprising if you ask me...

hahah

Yeah I saw that a week ago.
Hilarious!
Again, out of ALL the bassist in the world to play in Gorgoroth, Frank gets the gig.
Almost as funny as Tony Laureano putting corpsepaint and drumming for Dimmu Laughing

This is my list as well. The first album lacks the dynamics of later works.

1. Cause
2. Slowly
3. End

In fact The End Complete or World Demise never move me too much, but love first two albums.

Questions for Peter and Henri:

Anyone have a photo of the Executioner demo? I believe it was a two track demo and both tracks were featured on the Raging Death comp LP and reissue of Slowing We Rot. Did Obituary actually release any demos or were the bonus demo tracks from Cause of Death just practice recordings for the album?

Was the bonus track from Cause of Death pic disk featured anywhere else? It was a re-recording of an Executioner song.

My vote goes to Slowly We Rot of course.

* Never saw an actual demo cover of any Xecutioner demo/Rehearsal. However, the sound on the last Xecutioner Rehearsal (late '87) have studio quality. Maybe deathster knows more.

* And never knew that there is a bonus track on the Pic LP ? What's the title ?

1) Slowly We Rot,
2) parts of Cause
3) parts of Xecutioner's Return LP / parts of Darkest Day

1) Cause of Death
2) The end Complete.

I think that the last release are not bad, i hear a riffs similar to Celtic Frost, but Santolla had a bad influence on that.

It was one of the Executioner tracks from V/A Raging Death LP re-recorded.

Slowly We Rot of course (besides Xecutioner days).
Obituary played over here 2 months ago and those demo questions I had in mind also. Unfortunately the band literally ran away after the gig so I had no chance to ask about (E)Xecutioner days and demos. BUT what I have gathered is :
1986 2 track demo was not really spread like demo with cover. I know some blogs show picture of 1986 demo but I got impression that its done not by the band. Yeah Obituary original Cause of Death PicLP has bonus track but I never had this PicLP myself. I stick to original "Raging Death" which is GODLY!
Side note: EXECUTIONER played rather boring power thrash metal. It was getting interesting when Allen West joined and they changed to Xecutioner. This is when it went HEAVY!

It's funny the chorus of Syco-pathic mind and Metal up your ass sounds exactly the same. Great songs still

A draw between "Slowly We Rot" and "Cause of Death" for me, the first is pure filthy frosty 8-track gold, the second one is drenched in atmosphere, leads and interludes are just perfect in my opinion - the only downside is that there arenīt enough vocals on "Cause...".

I prefer these "retarded" vocals to the vast majority of shitty nasal Black Metal croaking but who cares anyway...

"The End Complete " is also good but much of the intensity present on the first two records had vanished on that one.
