Ah, LLN...i kinda like Deathspell Omega "kenose"! Got the latest Antaeus as well but find it a little harsh for my taste..perhaps its a grower but i haven't had the time to sit through the whole album at one go. Kinda liked the last album they did with Osmose though.

Deathevokation - is that like old school death metal?

Yes, it's old school death metal. They released a demo in 2005 on tape that came with a little cdr and a sticker. They just released a full length this year but I havn't heard it yet although I am planning on checking it out.

Factory made tapes are good, but they are like

I like Tapes, but if the Music are avaible on other Formats,
like Vinyl, i buy the Vinyl for sure, not the Tape.

If anybody want to re release Tapes, please go for old
Demo Tapes like Ildjarn, Arckanum, Mayhem, Mysticum
and so on.

In a way i think you are right in saying vinyl will be preferred over tapes. The demand for records is still strong, especially in Europe but tapes are really vanishing from supermarkets, etc.

it will be great if i can re-issue those obscure demos but it will be quite difficult to obtain the rights to them i think.

Tapes still rule. No matter if professional or home dubbed.
People do those master / cover trades to save postage and itīs a good way since to me it doesnīt matter if I have SONY tape buyed in Chile or Germany ! But I donīt dub much demos myself anymore since itīs really a pain in the ass on a big scale, I try to get dubbed copies for the distro.

I donīt think tapes will die, just like vinyl they will always be there. OK, there may be one point when you canīt buy blank tapes in the supermarket anymore but you will always be able to buy them online somewhere...

Luckily here in Malaysia, tapes are still available but i don;t know for how long more. there are still factories producing tapes, especially for local releases. If there is a strong demand for a particular title, pressing the tapes will be more worthwhile but if doing small runs, then self-dubbing will be better.

Until now, i have not been able to find a true gem to re-release on tape..any ideas/suggestions?

there are differant tapes people buy in bulk some buy black, white, clear, sony, maxwell. Tapes like that will probably more than likely depend on where you got it. If you bought them all from THR they all should be on the same tape. One label i know for a fact uses white tapes, which is Northern Sky Productions.

I take pictures of most of my tapes for the hell of it, let me know what you want to check the legitmicy of and i'll see if i have it. That website would not be a bad idea if i had money for a domain name i would probably start it up.

Let's work together in starting one up then Wink i thought domain names are kinda cheap nowadays.

However, would it be all worthwhile doing it? i really don;t know if collectors of tapes are actually numerous and if tape releases (other than demos) are also many?

Would i have to deal with labels or the band directly? Best with the band in the case of demos, cuts out a lot of bureaucracy i think.

Hey, Serge here from CultMetal.com it's actually going to be expanded to more sections: Tapes, Zines, Shirts and maybe patches.

I'm in the process of looking for a new coder, so it's gona take a bit before this materializes.

i'll buy the occasional demo, but I have zero use for tape format of something that's already on wax or cd. Especially a modern release.

tape has always been the easiest format to trade/dub in the old days even today there's tons of tape labels that deals exclusively in tape release.the most active genre in using tapes worlwide are hardcore/punk and ultra grind/noise.
to do a pro printed/duplicated tape is quite cheap even the covers/inserts too.i guess the best way is get the old band's demos and re relaesed it in a noble way in tape version, extra special packaging, liner notes, old photos..
i've done a few releases on tape and it served me well.still doing tape trading with maniacs from Peru to Ottawa, from Melbourne to Varna.true underground spirit must respect analog.the true format for true undeground.tape and vinyl always rules !!!
nothing beats the feeling of listening to my old Necroschizma "erupted evil" original demo while reading Slayer mag at my crypt.

I don't listen yet the full lenght or the 7" but I don't like very much the first demo... maybe is it better?

i did start listening metal with tapes but not sure what is the fuzz about them now...i see it as a pure nostalgia thing because there is not way they can match CD's or vynil sonically or longevity-wise...adding to that they are even more expensive than a blank CDR so from any point of view they are just a waste of time...the only reason you will see many tape releases coming (especially from South America) is because the bands/labels doesnt have a CD/vynil factory locally available or they cannot affort the pressing prices...
