Anyone else notice how bandcamp is always charging all these random fees? I feel like the revenue from every other purchase or download ends up in Bandcamp's pocket and not my band's. Total horseshit, man.

aside from the revenue sharing, i don't know what you're talking about. any examples?

I haven't done the math but I feel like their revenue sharing is a better deal than the exorbitant seller fees from Amazon or eBay. I sell a lot on Bandcamp and only occasionally do they claim an entire sale from me.

If you're looking for a better answer, ask a better question. My experience with bandcamp is fairly extensive and does not include any unexpected charges or fees.

It's all pretty cut and dry in my experience. I could care less about them taking 10 or 15% (can't remember what it is) of digital download fees as that is way less than iTunes, etc. and honestly I'm surprised people pay for digital downloads in this day and age. I don't really like that they take that percentage of physical sales, but I just don't really sell physical items through BC at this point and just pay BigCartel's small monthly fee for using that service.

I had an account for like two years and never understood how the fees thing work, lol.
When someone paid for example 3, I received 3. And some kind of % was suposed to go to the account, but I did not understand what to do with that.

I'll probably re-open the account with the coming stuff, have to read the policy again.

Unless you're able to create a website that exchanges downladable music against money (or find a reliable means to do so), your complaining is useless.

its pretty simple, for every 10 or so downloads BC get one equivalent payment.Never been charged for selling physical copies, although that has been far less than digital.I'm also amazed at how many people are willing to pay for digital, its a nice surpsrise to check my PP balance once a month or so and find there's enough there for a new lp or something.

no, everything is very straight forward if you read what you agreed to when you signed up. ive never noticed a "random" fee. let alone "always".

Any payment I get from digital sales (or any sales anyway) is a bonus, the main point for me is to have the music available easily and people can pay what they want, if they want. If I choose to pay for a download, it's because I want to give some financial support as there's no need for something physical in exchange. Paying for ones and zeros with ones and zeros is a quite a fair deal Razz

No such problems here. Just fees agreed upon during sign up in my experience. However, I don't use Bandcamp to sell physical copies of my releases.
