Neither do I wish to begin a new thread as this might have come up previously in the forum, but I have an OFC question.
Can someone explain the symbolism & significance of the Oak sprig/3 acorn emblem that appears in An Ending in Fire LP/CD and also on the Die Hard edition patch? |

I always thought it was a sign of victory given to Roman generals. But not a 100% sure with that. _________________ Only Lemmy is Real. |

Three oak leaves & acorns attached to a single stem = three man band. _________________ "Order From Chaos, this band knows how to metal and they know how to satan and they most definitely know how to arghgh. It dosen't suck dick and thats why faggots don't like them. I have entered the stillbirth machine, I suggest you cum too." |

Cheers, I found several websites that support this. Seems Oaks/acorns and their depiction were highly symbolic throughout the Old World and were seen to represent potential, strength, power and regeneration. Qualities obviously fitting of OFC. Victorious Roman generals were presented with "crowns" from these trees.
Yes, the connection of 3 acorns = 3 man band is what first came to my mind when I saw this emblem in relation to Order From Chaos. However I dismissed it as I couldn't accept a band of such class and distinction would come up with such a random motif to symbolically portray themselves as 3 nuts hanging off a tree branch. I always felt there had to be some more arcane yet glorious significance behind it...
Guess the true answer lies within the application of any and all insights, but in a more practical sence it means I'll be sewing the Oak/acorn OFC patch onto the spare space on my vest and not the Stillbirth Machine patch. Just so much more striking in look, and meaning. |

I'm friends with one of the ex-OFC members and that was the answer he gave to me. _________________ "Order From Chaos, this band knows how to metal and they know how to satan and they most definitely know how to arghgh. Using oak leaves & acorns as part of the symbolism was no accident, and the fact there were three made the motif perfect. |
