Ah, thanks! Looks really awesome. I don't know much about Venom collecting because I decided to stay out of that game years ago after seeing the insane amount of stuff there is. First three albums on CD and LP are enough for me |

I bought them after the previous shelves i had (wooden planks) were full, and i had no room left. Googled for some stuff and came on the site of "cd rek",a dutch company. They also make those for lp's,dvd's and books.
They are expensive but i couldn't find much else. You can also choose between various heights and widths,so it's great to make them fit wherever you have some room against a wall.
Here's a link. They have english orgerman language also. Just browse it.

no IKEA ad haha but: friend living in Finland wrote me yesterday that Ikea will probably stop producing Expedit shelves this year. Or if they'll continue making these, than with thiner type of wooden shelve itself - reducing production costs probably.
I still think that with some care, Expedit is good for records. but I have kinda DIY made cheap shelves I'm pleased with. |

Any ideas which shelves would be ideal for 500-1000 tapes? Any space-saving shelves available somewhere or only DIY? |

I am a child of the mid 80's and grew up buying tapes and cd's. Since I've recently come down with chronic low back pain issues, I've decided to just make the switch over to exclusively buying mp3's. The less material objects I have to move, the simpler my life is. I definitely miss the material artifact aspect of it, but it keeps my focus on what counts most- the music itself. |

I am currently looking into building about 5 of these for lp's and two for 7" singles. Why would you want to store your collection where you need to read the spines of the records instead of searching like a record store through your lp's? pff

I made one based off that a year or two ago and it turned out ok (see p.44). I later installed a light on the underside of the top shelf because it can be hard to see the lps on the bottom. You might also want to consider that.
edit: here is the link (I think). That was before I put a light in the bottom, which I strongly recommend doing!

Standard shelves are more space efficient, and I think it's much faster to locate a record by looking at the spines rather than flipping. Also, I would wonder whether the jackets suffer more shelf wear on one of those. _________________ THINGS THAT WILL BE DELETED:
