I'm looking for any heavy, pounding, doomy, psychedelic albums that you would appreciate listening to on an acid trip. Stuff like Iron Butterfly, Dust (- Hard Attack), Grand Funk (I know, it's not that psychedelic), Hawkwind or any other weird stuff like Funkadelic or the first Stooges album.

If you have recommendations, don't hesitate. Just don't post bands whose records are totally impossible to find.

Never heard of that band, sounds excellent.

By-the-by, here's an excellent webradio for acid/psychedelic rock : http://www.techwebsound.com/

I've been listening to such stuff a lot lately as well, here some various recommendations:

Electric Prunes, Captain Beyond, The Zombies, Kiriae Crucible ("Salem Witch Trial" is great track), Bloodrock, Electric Eels, Dust, Leaf Hound, The End, Zior, Orang Utan, Head Over Heels, Black Widow, Morly Grey, damn...there's tons of stuff out there...

Reminds me I could listen to The Stooges or “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” again and one day listen to Black Widow. I don’t know much about Psychedelic Rock, but I am interested, as one could see when I asked for bands merging such music with Black Metal, which I did here.
Moses sounds interesting, and thanks to Hostis for the webradio. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I will.

Yeah, their first album is brilliant.

And give this a try: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJk9ZLjsl3U
Rather funky than heavy, but still interesting.

Does anyone have an original Dust LP? I was told "Hard Attack" is quite rare.

Only familiar with more mainstream stuff of the 60's.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is a damn good record. My favorite band of the 60's are The Doors though.

Some true highlights and personal favorite fuzzy proto-metal and heavy psych albums:

Flower Travellin' Band - Satori (the riffing is incredible)
Toad - s/t
High Tide - Sea Shanties
Buffalo - Dead Forever
Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdom Come
Hard Stuff - Bulletproof
Night Sun - Mournin'
Bang - s/t
Lucifer's Friend - s/t
Euclid - Heavy Equipment
Warhorse - s/t (not the doom band)
Leafhound - Growers of Mushroom

One of the best genres to have ever existed.
