Agreed. The debut contains a lot of great material, but the production is definitely lacking. Especially the snare sound is awful.

Went with Litany. I only know TUI and Litany but I guess I'll have to dig into their other early works.
I've seen a few good Vader shows but got a bit of overkill when they were on almost every tour about ten years ago. Made me lose interest.

Litany is basically a re-written version of De Profundis. A little faster, a little less varied in the riff-department, and pimped with a "modern" production. No hate, but I think De Produndis is VASTLY superior, and I urge every Litany fan to check that album out. It's a classic that helped taking Death Metal to a new level. Especially the drumming was out of this world for it's time.

The Ultimate Incantation of course. There can be no other. Well. Ok. That first semi classic debut AND the demos. Vader never reached that level of depth in composition again. It has (for moi) the best production and the best riffs of all their albums.

When the follow-up De Profundis was released i was disappointed. Though that was largely due to the production. I have all the fullengths of this polish juggernaut and actually enjoy them all. One might be better than the other, but the band always has a constant quality.

Oh. And "Incantation" has the better vocals of the lot too. Peters vocals got lighter after that.

De Profundis. First contact with "Death" Metal for me. The last album is not that bad though.

Decapitated's Winds of Creation fits the bill.

Nox-Ixaxaar

Sounds a little like more recent blast oriented Vader

Last night I revisited TUI and Litany. I must say I voted with nostalgia. TUI is definitely the better record.

Check out Dies Irae - Immolation. Mauser and Doc were involved so it sounds very vaderish.

The drums in "Litany" are Ultra-Triggered. I hate that kind of unnatural drum sound.

I don't hear any triggers on Litany.
