Also Clandestine Blaze, had no idea about it until it was out, but Mikko always delivers.

Definitely an oversight on my list. Great album. Totally deserving.

Also overlooked: White Medal - Guthmers Hahl

While I can agree that this is better than most people on here would admit, it's not even close to their previous albums. There’s a couple of great songs, but most of it is definitely filler material, regardless of how you define that term. I just can’t imagine that anyone who understands why Casus Luciferi or Sworn to the Dark are first-class would consider this album to be on the same level. Anyway, if you agree with this and simply compare the latest album to other releases this year, I don't blame you.

I would nominate:

Satan
Sect Pig
Inquisition
Cultes des Ghoules
Ride for Revenge
The Devil’s Blood
Selim Lemouchi & His Enemies

Alongside Watain, theres a great bunch of other albums that deserves some kind of runner-up status; Bölzer, Bilskirnir, Warlord, A.M.S.G, Akitsa, In Solitude, Beyond, Necrowretch, Ranger, Antediluvian…
I’m sure I’ve forgotten a couple

And this is definitely my favourite riff of the year, although the album hasn’t been released yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=baJKiiOA1e4#t=104 (1.44 into the song, in case the link doesn’t work properly).

Warlord was really epic stuff in my opinion. Amazing guitar work especially.

On the Watain case, Sworn to the Dark is my favorite by them definitely but The Wild Hunt was really something new and welcome. The title song!!!

On the topic, I came to add that ATLANTEAN KODEX - The White Goddess definitely deserves it's place on the list. Awesome.
