Just listened to the compilation track on the ROCK HARD CD and decided neither to listen to the rest of the album, nor to buy it. Old CARCASS rule, but the new stuff sounds like 1000000 modern bands and I really can't stand the typical metal core production....

After having next to zero interest in Carcass since my teenage years, I heard the album in a friends car over the weekend and really liked it. I bought it and I'm very happy with it after having no expectations or interest in it. Great riffs, stunning lead work, Walkers vocals sound awesome and the drumming it actually quite good and powerful on a decent stereo. This hits the spot nicely when a change of pace is needed from "serious" metal.

Carcass were always "fun"... or did you think they were seriously going to graveyards and digging up bodies to eat them ?

^ Agreed. It's a fun catchy album with familiar vox + cool melodic guitars + punchy drumming.

I generally avoid reunions like the plague (the only ones I can remember getting are Brutality + Solstice (the one from FLA)), but I heard the preview song for this album and liked its catchiness, and bought the album. I'm glad I did.

Yeah.

Reek of Putrefaction is a great party album at its core... I've played it at parties before. Carcass = dirty hippie party band.

How many of you would say "No"? Seriously now.

Indeed. I sure as hell wouldn't.

If you were in Carcass, a metal cruise is like a floating orgy waiting to happen. And anyone that wouldn't go and risk a few STD's is a femmewimp.

Just got Surgical Steel as part of a trade. Sounds like Carcass. Surprisingly.

Just heard this album. After so many shitty modern bands cloning later-era Carcass with bloodless production, I am having a difficult time divorcing my hatred of those bands with Surgical Steel (which shares the bloodless production). To my ears, it sounds like the best Carcass clone album ever recorded.

Um, I prefer General Surgery, Impaled, old Exhumed, the first Haemorrhage The County Medical Examiners, Pathologist...

Not sure why I don't like it, but Kirk Hammet announcing the video definitely reinforces my revulsion.
