I have a relatively new BM cassette label called Sylvan Screams Analog. I have 3 releases out so far, 2 tapes from Twilight Fauna, and one from Lyset. My fourth release should be out next week and it's from Death/Black Metal band Abyssion, followed shortly by a EP from Krayl(India). I have stuff lined up from: I Shalt Become, Dhampyr, Kolp, Caina, When Woods Make Graves, Drukne, and more. Stop by the Facebook page and show some SUPPORT, or the Bigcartel page if you want to order!! Thanks so much!!

It will be the cassette version of his debut(and best IMO) record, "Some People Fall". Also, he has volunteered an extra unreleased song or two, to make it special. It will be the 1st time it will be on cassette.

I don't know if you are a fan or familiar with USBM band, I Shalt Become? He gave me free reign to his back catalog, and said I can release whatever I would like. Of course, his classic record Wanderings, has had one release on tape already, and that was my first choice. Again, he said he didn't mind if I release it again, though. I am actually a HUGE fan of all of his releases! If any of you are fans, what I Shalt Become release would you like to see on Cassette for the first time?? It would be a great help if you guys give me some opinions.

Also, I would love to hear from other owners of tape labels, mainly to discuss how they do the printing/artwork portion of their releases? So far, the artwork has been the bane of my labels short existence!! The first three releases the layout were done by Justin S. of Father Befouled(and many others), and he also does the label Obscure Vanity. He is also finishing up the cover for my 4th release. He is SUPER busy, so I can't expect him to do all of my covers. I recently got Photoshop(which I know NOTHING about), and I am trying to learn that? I really want to be able to do all of my own layouts, and then take them to a reliable, but cheap printshop(share your stories and tips on that as well)! Someone sent me a really basic Image program, and i fooled around with that long enough that I did the cover for my 5th release, myself. But it just doesn't offer everything I need to make nice Pro covers. So I guess I need to find Photoshop tutorials and get busy?? So if any of you guys have stories or tips to share, I would LOVE to hear them....thanks so much!!

I'd like to see Wanderings again. It is a really good record. A strong depressive root.

Of course, that was my 1st choice!! He seemed a little bummed, as i am sure he wants more recognition for his other catalog? I know that I will do Wanderings again, as it's been ages since Moribund put it out! I think the other one I am putting out, I am leaning towards Requiem or The Pendle Witch Trials!! They are all great records though!!

The way I do it is; tapes get made at NAC and I print the JCards locally.

I think it is cheaper and the j cards may have better quality. That also based on info I got from other friends with tape labels. No shrinkwrapping though, but I don't care about that.

Well, I have a very nice Sony Duplicating machine, and it makes beautiful copies, 4 at a time...so I do that. I want to do the local print shop thing as well, what I have a problem with is the layout, you know how you get it ready to take to the Print Shop??

What I do is beg my friends who know photshop for help, but I am getting there, just practice, as long as you get all the art you n eed from the bands, you should be good, as all you'll need is to sort of drag and drop, cut and paste..just play with the elements and trim a few things...check tutorials on youtube...now if the bands just go with a 'do whatever you want approach', then you are screwed, 'cause I am not an artist and I can't create shit.

thought about buying those duplicators, but the price deterred me, found one in e-Bay and almost bought it and then a friend talked me out of it, he said maintenance was a pain in the ass....been pretty happy with NAC so far, they take a while, but they are reliable and their tapes are pretty neat.

I Shalt Become on tape, not a bad idea.

This project deserves support on every level. Way superior to any silly clown-band associated with "Depressive Black Metal".

Regarding tape layouts, I'd recommend getting Photoshop, find templates and know the proportions off by heart. Some places use different templates for printing so make sure you can rearrange if necessary. Some use a 3mm or 2mm bleed,

I get tapes from tapeline.info and printed the inlays locally on thick gloss paper and scalpel cut/score them myself, which was tedious. I have now discovered that for similar prices I can get pre-folded and cut card inlays printed by Szymon at Werewolf Promotions in Poland, I'd highly recommend him for doing inlays.

Thank for the tips, am currently learning Photoshop, but it's slow going! The info on the layouts from Werewolf sound promising, but where are you located? Because it would probably cost me a fortune to get stuff from there all the way to the US??
