Downloaded it.

Very melodic. Lots of In Flames and Children Of Boredom stuff going on.

However the drumming and vocals are good.

I must say Bill Steer's guitar work on this is OUT OF THIS FUCKING WORLD!
He can probably replace any guitarist in any band, in any type of music....for real. He should be 10 times bigger in the "Guitar Nerds" world.

Also - Bill's vocals are on this record in back-up capacity...you hear him several times. I could have sworn we were all told that he had actual vocal parts on this record though...oh well. I still love it.

Agree 100%.
I hated swansong, but this album blow my mind.
I didn't expect such a killer comeback after 17 years, those riff are for sure breath of fresh air, and the production is a lot better than I expected.
I'm gonna buy this masterpiece for sure.
Yeah I know "how enthusiastic, this album is melodic crap."
To each his own.

The problem with them is that they can write a great grind album. This LP could have been killer had they used an actual drum sound and a less generic guitar tone. Some of the progressions with this guitar tone literally sound exactly like BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. I'll be listening to it more over the next few days though. If they make money off of this release however, I support that 666%.

I don't think much worse can be said about it. I would have also added Arch Enemy to that list. Yeah, It's actually beyond awful. It's just a progressive cluster fuck of nonsensical all flash no substance guitar masturbation.

I've only heard the one song "Captive Bolt Pistol", and I don't like it at all. Sounds like too many other weak modern bands.

Then again, I only like the first three Carcass albums and hate everything that came after, so I guess that makes sense. I will listen to the stream to give the full album a chance, though.

Well, it's certainly melodic, but saying that is like saying Darkthrone sounds like Armagedda or Bergtatt sounds like Agalloch. New Carcass surely have the melodic approach as Heartwork, but that was way before IF, CoB or AE even released anything, so it's more like they sound like they did on their peak of success.

In the end, I have to say that the new Carcass didn't really work for me after all, but it's not because it's shit music-wise, but more about myself and how my taste has evolved through the years. If this would've been released after Swansong (I actually really like the album these days) I would've really enjoyed, but my taste have changed since those days.

OK, so I have now listened to the full album. Doesn't do anything for me at all. I find it very weak and boring...just not something I'd ever listen to again.
