I recently sold two tapes to a guy in a province in Mexico. He had asked for registered mail but I did not register it. Also, I did NOT charge him for the registration.

In fact, all I charged him for was tapes at wholesale prices and shipping since he had been asking for my releases for a while. When I found the price of registration I figured I'd take my chances and save him/me about $12.

24 hours after I told him that his package was on the way he went insane online, hurling insults, acting condescending and asking for his money back because of the registration. Bear in mind, this is only 24 hours after the tapes were posted in the mail. Right Away he mentioned how he was already thrashing the label in forums and blah blah blah. To appease this menstruating douche and trying to keep the name of a young label clean I gave him his money back knowing that there are still chances of the package making it.

My question is, what are the chances of this unregistered package making it to its destination? It is not big, just two tapes, so it should not draw too much attention.

Pretty bizarre behaviour on your part tbh. A buyer is willing to pay for registered mail and you decide to send it unregistered against his wishes? I'd be pissed off/perplexed too. Even Mexicans know their mail system is the worst:

YOU SIR, ARE A MORON ! Laughing

countries that ALWAYS require registered shipping at ALL TIMES:

-Mexico
-Indonesia
-malaysia
-any other country residing in the orient
-peru
-any other counrty in south america
-italy
-greece
-Russia

apart from that, not registering when someone wants to pay for that is just plain retarded.

Duly noted. Lesson learned. I was just surprised by how pissed he was. It is not like I charged him for it.

There are good chances that the package will make it, but it will take time. In my case I only had not recieved one package of about 500 or so that were sent un registered...but it seem it is some areas that have more trouble than others...
Add Italy and Greece to the list of hard places to send/receive Mail...unless you go registered on all Ghost places...and then you will have to face customs, but that is another history Twisted Evil

Thanks for the input. I have sent packages before to Mexico and South America and never had an issue.

I've mailed quite a bit to Mexico without registration and I've never had an issue. Albeit, one parcel took a year to get there (a replacement made it there several months before) but it did make it.

I'd agree that you should have sent it registered. Most decline on registration (when they ask) after they find out what the price would be.

I absolutely should have. thanks for the info, I was just a bit flabbergasted by the guy's behavior afterwards, starting to bad mouth around forums. It's not like I charged him for registration. The tapes are on the label now, since he was refunded fully.

I can feel why he is angry but your response was quite logic anyway...no need to treat to put a bad name...anyway, postage prices make me to do few orders to the USA and instead order to my parents house and pay for cheap but secure media Mail...

Even big labels (i mean for examples= Relapse) send by another service. I mentioned Relapse because they send me some stuff and it late like 3 months....
And we are talking about a really serious and big label.....

Most of the problems derive from the people who claim things as lost - even in country´s which aren´t part of the Euro-zone or North- America have normal working post systems. I bet 99,9% of all "lost in the mail" claims are from people who take the stuff without a will to pay for it. Before Paypal the postal-services worked correctly in the very most cases - and they still do!

I am still trading with people from f.ex. Italy and not A SINGLE package got "lost in the mail" because the guy(s) are reliable.

Besides this i do not understand why you send something to Mexico without registration if someone want to pay for it. Strange policy. If the guy wents crazy like you said i would doubt he is an adult with manners who will send you the money when the tapes arrive (and they will).

"Lost in the mail" - claims are a trend of the virtual - Metal - generation. Both should be avoided.
