If you speak English or pronounce it like the band, it should be Lon-JAI-nus. Considering the band says it that way and the preceding word, Spear, is in English, that should settle any debate.

Spear is indeed english word but Longinus is latin name, so it isnt that easy

It does sound strange. Lon-jai-nus sounds very americanized. You know, like IM-PEH-TIE-GO. I would have thought it's closer to long-e-nus.

that's not correct, do not trust this google translate pronunciation.. 'ł' in Mgła is pronounced more like 'w' ... http://www.ivona.com/en/?tk=72FMUdxwH3

edit: I see that you wrote Mgla instead of Mgła...when you enter Mgła, it pronounces it accurately (maybe some polish users could confirm it)..so I guess google translate pronunciation can be useful after all Smile

as for Spear of Longinus, i pronounce it in latin because english version does not sound good to my ears

They said lon-gee-nus in Evangelion afaik. I use that pronuntiation too, but I live in South America so I'm probably wrong.

I feel happy for you people, having other comrades to talk about these bands IRL.

I pronounce it like that way too. I imagine it's pretty much how a latin speaker would pronounce it.

I actually love it that I pretty much never discuss this shit face to face with foreigners. In Finland - or at least amongst the retards with whom I regularly interact - all the spelling and pronunciation is reduced to pronouncing each letter more or less the Finnish way, reminiscent of the rally finglish discussed earlier. Everyone understands each other perfectly.

Feuersturm: this is what I was going for with the IN pronunciation guideline. It occurs to me that not all Finns use the same variants though and just now realize that especially in the Helsinki region people tend to use pronunciation closer to the English one. And just for the sake of clarification, IN in my mouth would read exactly as "impaled nasarene" as opposed to e.g. "impeild nasareen" which I've also heard being used.
