UK based avant-garde black metal outfit, CODE, has inked a worldwide record deal with Agonia Records. Band's as-yet untitled third studio album, is set to be released later this year.

CODE begun life in London in 2002 and released two full-length albums to date. The aim was simple: to deliver their own take on black metal as they wanted to hear it. Originally featuring Aort and Kvohst, the CODE ranks swelled to include Vicotnik from Ved Buens Ende and Dodheimsgard on bass and AiwarikiaR from Ulver on drums, creating an Anglo/Norwegian entity.

Bandís debut album "Nouveau Gloaming" (Spikefarm records for the cd and Necroterror records for the lp ), a twisted, eerie augmentation of black metal was released in 2005 and rose to wide critical acclaim. Their second album, above mentioned "Resplendent Grotesque", featured Adrian Erlandsson (At the Gates) on drums was once again extremely well received and nominated for a Spellemann award for best Metal album in 2009.

With band members scattered across Europe, CODE needed to become a consolidated entity in order to move forward. Kvohst left to pursue Hexvessel and Vicotnik to continue with Dodheimsgard, leaving Aort to regroup and redefine CODE in 2013. More news on band's third album will follow shortly.

After Kvohst left, there is nothing left, but 1 mediocre demo and 2 good albums.
They should have called it quits.

I can't say I was into the second album as much as I was the first. I will check out a 3rd though.

Same. I really like Kvhost's vocals, but I think he went a bit overboard with his singing on the second album. Still will be interested in hearing new material with a new vocalist...

Dunno...reminds me more and more of newer Enslaved...too "catchy" and clean...

Yeh... not convinced. Some great moments but all a bit up-beat and "safe". Still.. who knows what the rest of the album will bring. Ending is corny too.

Pretty much. Listened to the whole thing. Very safe, and like I said before, reminds me of newer Enslaved with that ICS Vortex singing, and weak "harsh" vocals. ( it's not him). "progressive", in a boring, clean, safe way.

So that's another band I don't really like anymore..

New album is not very good. I don't like it. One less band to care about is a good thing, by them releasing a stinker they saved me $15. Thanks <Code>

Pleased was the very first time I heard the very first <Code> album, now that was pleasing.

This reminds that it's high time I checked their 2nd album.

Aeon in Cinders is one of my all-time favorite songs, but somehow I've failed to keep track of <Code> after Nouveau Gloaming.

The new song already sounds great imo.

Listening to the album right now and I like what I hear. Very catchy and accessible songwriting, so not very "progressive" to my ears.
I must say I don't miss Kvohst at all. He overdid it on Resplendent grotesque. Also Hexvessel doesn't do it for me because of that, although on paper I should really like that project.
