I never liked Pantheon, always considered them really messy and they suffered from bad recordings.

Which albums/recordings do you know? They usually recorded them in a pro-studio.
Plus their songwriting was pretty dynamic (not messy) and Vautrin's guitarwork is top-notch IMO.

The main riff of this song is pretty good but still the sound is like it's a rehearsal recording not fitting the style of music and the other riffs and vocals are still very generic imo

Here is a better quality sample from their album:

Doesn't sound like a rehearsal to me... Rolling Eyes

ive followed this bands stuff since 98'...i was originally given a few cassettes at a show id played in Arizona...the split with WAR 88 and another band called KATHARIA?....i think it might have been one of the PANTHEON members who gave me these....over all the years and many releases the most striking thing about the guitar playing is the sort of folkish strumming and melodic blending of numerous harmonies all within the blaze of a aggressive black metal context...the blur some might mistake for 'slop' is more often just such unusual chords/patterns that the common black metal or whomever listener might not easily follow...over the course of their discography there appear acoustic arrangements of tracks previously done as a metal track...aside from the different sound the songs are identical in composition....i guess one needs to sort of 'listen' to this band for a while to get all the nuances....the one track ive heard of the FORLORN WINDS material it was immediately identifiable as Vautrin on the guitar...

I checked most of their stuff I got in the distro, but 'Krihapentswor' and that CD they dedicated to you there, Jarl die Freiheit, comes to mind.
Maybe the line between 'dynamic' and 'messy' is a matter of taste here.

Agreed.. Strong Pantheon-vibe though. Ah well, sure it'll reach the right audience!

These two are from that one year when they released 4 or 5 CDs, that is probably why the quality on some suffered a lot. Lightning Thunder Propaganda is very good (without the bonus tracks), and the releases from other years are good as well. The band just has it's own chaotic/messy style, nothing wrong with their ability to play instruments or write songs.

"Jarl die Freiheit" had lots of rehearsal tracks, so the sound on those is bad of course. Any concrete release date for the Forlorn Winds CD yet?

Don't understand why anybody talk about this "The day the wolf swallowed the sun". The CD slays !
Especially the guitar work which is really personal! Incredible riffs !
