On a side note, has anyone here tried to contact demons (or archangels) before? Serious question. Another forum I use has had a few numerous discussions about the topic though, seeing as this forum is for metal discussion and a fair few here are (to a certain degree) occultist/spiritual/etc, I thought I'd ask.

Yes, I do believe in a strong spiritual element of the universe and such, if anyone is wondering.

Awhile back in another similar thread I told a serious story of demonic contact, and no one believed it. The occult is quite real, but don't expect to find much insight on this forum. I could write some things, but I won't even bother.

Yes. Terrible consequences for people I used to know. It is real. Nothing else will be said.

So it's basically introspective hobby reading?

Read the first volume of "Cosmic Trigger" by Robert Anton Wilson. Its a quasi-autobiographical account of a period of his life when he was heavy into performing rituals and various thelemic, buddhist and sufi excercises. He was heavily influenced by Timothy Leary and Wilhelm Reich, as well as Korzibisky's Semantics so his model of what is actually going on may make more sense to you.

I looked up the book on wikipedia and stumbled upon this
Quote:
"Wilson employs several models for his experiences, such as the interstellar ESP connection, during which time Wilson enters a belief system (or as Wilson prefers to call it, reality tunnel) in which he is communicating telepathically with extraterrestrials residing in the Sirius star system"
I don't think I'm ready for communicating with extra terrestrials.

Hallucinogen, you see that? Magick is real. Thoth can read minds through the internet. Almost as cool as shooting fire from the eyes.
th-this cannot be true!!

But were you on drugs? Did the demon touch you?

What kind of consequences were there? Did they have to use a wheelchair due to extensive butt damage or what :p? I'm serious, I want to know.

Pretty much what Kaos and N. said. If you get into this stuff, you'll get plenty of evidence. Everyone I know who tried that did. If you don't get involved in occult practices, no explanation will be good enough for you. This is something that has to be experienced first-hand. Otherwise, it's like describing red and green to the color-blind.

If you're 'studying the occult' and you're not a retarded nerd, the ideal results are:

- greater self-knowledge and self-mastery
- aesthetic/psychological/spiritual pleasure
- sense of respect for the weirdness of life

so what would be good places to start with? (books/texts)?

Well, here's a pretty simple technique you can try out, recommended by a very influential 19th century magician, Paschal Beverly Randolph (1825-1875):

"Set apart the first hour after retiring to bed nightly. Eat a light supper; bind a light silk bandage over the entire forehead and eyes, turn the face toward the darkest corner of the room, and endeavor to see."

In due time, the result is supposed to be as follows:

"1st, You will see a dim haze.
2d, A spark of light.
3d, A greater light.
4th, Misty forms will float before you.
5th, They will grow distinct.
6th, Answers will flow into your mind.
7th, You will gradually merge into a radiant light; behold the actual dead, converse with them, and realize your soul's desire."

Happy hunting! Razz

So don't. I'm not saying you should, I'm directing you to an autobiography that answers the question you keep asking.

Is that copypasta or did you type that out? If you typed it, that link you implied isnt there.

Also: On the subject of not looking back, that is a ritualized action that needs to be addressed in a more theoretical way for it to make sense. When the thoughform is sent out into the world, to the "spirits" or whatever it is in an "embryonic" state. Like wine or mead in a state of fermentation. Once you're done doing what you're supposed to be doing, opening the carboy and fucking with it spoils the entire process. That means it is important to NOT THINK ABOUT IT. "Is it gonna work?" "How long will this take?" all that shit. Ideally, you forget that you ever did it to begin with and if you are skilled at meditation and such it can be done.

You have to allow the "program" that you just sent out to do what it's supposed to. This is actually the hardest thing about getting this shit to work, Austin Spare calls this "neither-neither".

There is an old alchemists legend about the notorious Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II. He was a famous patron of all sorts of scientists and mystics, so basically any central european renaissance occult legend refers to him in some way. The story is that he invites an alchemist to his court that claimed to have discovered the Stone. He asks the guy to show him how to do it, and the alchemist agrees and gives him step by step instructions to the entire process. He gives one final instruction: "When cracking the shell during the final stage, you must under no circumstances think of the colour green. The very idea of Greenness must be entirely absent from your thoughts". So the emperor follows his instructions to the letter, but of course he found his undisciplined mind unable to do his bidding and "greenness" was all he could think about, so when he cracked the shell it was full of maggots and the whole process ruined.

I suggest you look up E. A. Koetting and then subscribe to his newsletters.
