Awesome, I hope I hear about it in time to get a copy. I think they have the most tasteful guitar work in all of death metal, and nobody else even comes close. (The Dire Straits of DM? haha ) _________________ Good deals with: Numerator41, addison, deathsleep, witch sermon, xyosefx, invinCIBility (4X), Weltbrand (2X), DrkKnight, K-mart (2X), drinks, LifeDepraved |

The classic releases done at Morrisound are probably my absolute favourite death metal albums, and I think most of these albums still sound killer to the very day and piss on most of today's brutal death with its wee wee vocals, sterile and thin drums and pointless guitar wankery. I also prefer them to the Sunlight/more punkish sound since they sound heavier and more metallic, but that's a matter of taste. An album like the DEICIDE debut or SUFFO's debut or "Pierced From Within" are still among the most brutal albums of all time and nowadays there could be again more of this kind of death metal in terms of style AND sound. At least I need it for sure...
Some alternative tips for listening are below:

I always felt Seance was underrated because they were Swedish band, but had all the traits of the classic Florida/Morrisound sound. Wonder if they would have been more well known if they lived in the US.

This is great stuff. Gimmick-free death metal recalling the vibe of the classic demo-era of death....
And no words like sulphur, qliphoth and goetic magic... WOW!!!
Good luck to these guys... ticks all the right boxes for me. _________________ http://thykindreddreamers.blogspot.co.uk/ |

The FACT is at Morrisound, that the bass drums were stuffed with PILLOWS if anybody that was there will be honest with you.
When mentioned recently to a band that recorded there back then, that recorded there that Morrisound albums had weak drum sounds compared to others, that it sounded like they were slapping pillows instead of playing real drums.
He laughed and confirmed it was true, and was amazed that any fans said this back in the day.
For example, "Harmony Corruption" is weak compared to "From Enslavement to Obliteration". |

I seem to recall it being quite common for people to stuff sheets, towels etc in the bass drum back then... perhaps any drummers could confirm or deny? _________________ http://thykindreddreamers.blogspot.co.uk/ |

I think this is bullshit. Morrisound Studios/Scott Burns productions were known for having triggered bass drums. I even read/saw some Scott comment about how time consuming was to "manually" replace every bass drum beat with a sampled sound (no pro-tools/recording software existed at the time).
Edit: the fact is that it still is common to use this on the bass drums, i used to do it to avoid the bass drum sound to "expand" too much. But it is bullshit the fact that Morrisound bassdrums sound like that because of pillows. It even sounds ridiculous eheh. |

hmm even if some people dislike triggers or some other elements of Morrisound sound, still in terms of creativity "Morrisound" bands created many masterpieces in short period of time |
