"You can say one thing, every band he was in was much worse off without him. RIP."

Hit it on the head right there.
RIP.

Necrophobic demos and debut album is some of the best Swedish death ever.

Infernal was great! Second best thing he ever did. They released a third ep in 2010. He is one of those very rare guys who actually has talent. And I don't consider a personal style to be a bad thing either.

Damn. Blackmoon helped my old band (sauron) get our first record deal. Such a great guy.

Honestly, this guy was as important as the next guy in my opinion. If someone chooses to commit sucide - do it!
"His" music was very mediocre (imo), so itīs not like the Peter Steele of Death/ Black Metal died...
Besides, every junkie gets free methadon / buprenorphin / codein etc., no one in Sweden has to commit sucide because of the heavy costs for painkillers, thatīs really stupid... Besides I remember some interviews with this guy that made him not look like some genius.

so rumours are confirmed, he is dead. anyone heard anything about how and why? from his facebook, we know he had some problems but suicide is just speculation? very likely but not confirmed?

edit: a friend who has some Necrophobic connections said that it's most likely an OD. could have been accidental, could have been suicide. if he didn't leave a note or some shit like that i guess we won't know.

Sad news, guy was a gifted musician (a rarity in bm). Everything he did was top notch, from Necrophobic to Infernal.

Yep, agree with all of that. RIP David.

The only negative I can think of with regards to Mr Parland was some of those early Dark Funeral interviews where he seemed uber-keen to show everyone how black metal he was and, if I remember, ended up making a bit of a tit of himself.

But then, he was far from the only one.

People commit suicide because they are depressed. Feeling at their lowest, all hope is lost. Their coping mechanism fails. All you know is what you read on the internet which is just the tip of the iceberg. No one has any idea what the guy went through.
