Death - Individual Thought Patterns & Human...

That fucking awesome fretless bass insanity is mixed so stupidly low in the mix it's hardly obtrusive, but it should be....

One that comes to mind that hasn't already been mentioned is Aaskereia's Mit Raben und Wolfen. Also that Strid EP for sure.

Has anyone heard the remixed new versions of these albums? Are they worthy?

DMDS has some great bass lines
Gorgoroth - Gorgoroth from Antichrist has a truely mesmerising one
Burzum has some truely awesome basswork, albeit quite simple
Tulus goes without saying
Ovcorpse my own basswork on SauroN - The Channeling Void Razz
Black Shining Leather has some pretty nice bass stuff hidden in it.
Later Drudkh

I think B-war was always a bit over the top with his walking basslines. Good, but too much.

The remasters are excellent, but they didn't really change them all that much. It's more audible but not overpowering. The drums on ITP still sound like a bag of dead cats being thrown down the stairs....

examples? I haven't heard anything they did after Swan Road.

Good call on the early Napalm Death bass.

I'll have to agree with Burzum. Det Som Engang Var has a brilliant bass sound and mix. Granted, it never deviates from the root notes, but there's something incredibly atmospheric about the bass tone on that album. It almost sounds like a pulsing metronome in 'Snu Mikrokosmos...'.
