Yes, seems like. I would just drop it and feed on the royalties, if possible.

It probably would be possible for them. Just keep doing some vinyl re-issues. I'm surprised that bigger labels/bands did not jump on the wagon. Do 100 copies on red wax, 200 on white, 300 on blue, 400 on yellow....etc., etc. The band could keep most copies for themselves and just sell them on eBay whenever they need the money. And when the cash runs low just have a re-union show...

Yes, and then you don't even need to see the other band-members!

I mean, every band is just a bunch of friends in a rehearsal room in the end. Having success or money doesn't make it easier to come up with good songs.

I don't care anymore.
Slayer have to quit and join the Pantheon with triumph.
Paul Bostaph is more tight and solid drummer in their 90s until now direction.
Lombardo makes no difference for me anymore. He was the king of 1983-1990 era.
I hate his side projects and his ''evolution'' as a drummer.I loved and continue to love his 80s barbarity. When Slayer were the best band EVER.

Haha, but I am not good with calculating, consider me as think-tank. Very Happy

In all seriousness, if I look around, all bigger bands still around from the 80ies are still playing tours or at least concerts on a regular basis. Either it must be still the biggest part of the income or it is so much fun for the ego it is worth all the effort.

I mean these guys are in their late 40ies, early 50ies now? Not sure about their private situations, but they must have other priorities by now. Although I have also no clue what their life-standard is, considering income and such.

Have you seen the Lemmy movie? Like the man himself said in the film 'I'm not qualified to do anything else'. And I think this is the case with most bands from the '80s or even '90s. Entombed guys didn't get along with each other but they didn't know what else to do for a living so they continued to tour and release albums.

Didn't seen the movie, but I can imagine that this is the case with most bands (or their members, to be precise) that could live from their success and having done nothing else besides that.

You just get bored when you have no job.

Don't quote me on this but I think it was actually mentioned in the Swedish Death Metal book.

Who cares about Slayer anymore anyways really?
There are so many other bands. Fuck their money issues and fall out issues. They have enough discography... goodbye!

More than enough new acts stepping up all the time. The drama, leave that to daytime soaps and how many of you tough guys watch that shit?

...yea thought so, so why care about this exact same issue?

You guys forget one thing. With each new album come new promotion and new fans. I discovered Slayer thanks to God Hates Us All was promoted in metal mag that I was buying when I was 15... And then I discovered the rest of their catalogue. We are "old" guys here who know tons of thing but think about the newcomers ! You go to the store, you see the new Slayer (band that you know only by reputation), you buy it. You won't see Reign In Blood because it's no more promoted as hell in stores/mags/etc., you will see the latest release.

For the gig thing, needless to say that as long there will be demand/people to see them, they play... They won't bury 25 years of hard work/building reputation just because they are not as involved as before.

Under Command, no disrespect but you're not really an old guy if you found out about Slayer after God Hates Us All. Laughing
