Check out Disease from Macedonia for some old fashioned raw d-beat, they are getting better and better, punk as fuck.

I love the old UK stuff: Amebix, Deviated Instinct, Doom, Hellbastard, Sacrilege, Antiseptic. I live the older Swedish stuff too: Black Uniforms, Anti Cimex, Puke, Driller Killer, Wolfpack/Wolf brigade. Haven't kept up with crust and punk too much though and the politics and preachy nature of some bands turn me off. Need to check out more Finnish bands too.

Not bad.
But I prefer another band called Green Beret.

Because keyboards in Black Metal aren't a good idea, while keyboards and Grind go hand in hand.

I went through this thread again and I want to add:

Moment Maniacs

And +1 on Martyrdöd, I think they just released a new album.

Shameless self promotion here, but this band really deserves your attention! Blood Division from Singapore play a blistering mix of Blackened D-beat/Thrash and their debut is out on my label...

Anyone into Amebix, Axegrinder and similar should check these Swedish crust warriors:

Wolfpack/Wolfbrigade, Skit System and Tragedy are my tops but there are many excellent bands like Disfear (both old and new era), Warcollapse (Defy! is one of the heaviest records of all time), Driller Killer, Victims, Severed Head Of State, His Hero Is Gone etc.

And of course the godfathers of the genre like mighty Discharge, Amebix, Hellbastard or Axegrinder.

What are your faves?

right now, one of the better bands on earth is METH DRINKER.
three New Zealand Crust Punk type guys who play perfect *Early Crust Style* DOOM (like early ND intros) with perfect vocals AND the BEST TIMING maybe almost ever.
I thought they were a doom band 'til i SAW them.

Meth Drinker, unfortunetaly WERE amazing. They disbanded somewhere throughout last year which is a fucking shame since no band ever perfected sludge as they did. They took the best from cult bands such as Grief, EHG, Autopsy and Dystopia and molded their own wall of total disgust and pain. No atmospheric post neo shit, no bluesy redneck riffing, just plain evil, uber heavy sludge/doom.

I'll just mash in everything punky:

Old hardcore (especially Boston or Washington DC hardcore bands), some old oi! bands (4 skins, cock sparrer, Skrewdriver), old fashioned crust (Amebix, Antisect, Driller Killer, Discharge, etc.), some dis-clones (old Disfear, Dischange/Meanwhile, Disclose), some good californian powerviolence like INFEST or Capitalist Casualties and the coal miners from Hellnation

Also really into eastern EUropean RAC bands, but they're more often than not very metallic.

Post-punk is also a favourite, but too many bands worth writing and I'm lazy now.
