Nothing but putting down the classic CF era. |
Why?
I'm absolutely curious about that one, and it seems almost impossible to get since it is always showing up for stupid amounts of money...
Any further info would be highly appreciated. |
I thought it was an entertaining read for the most part. The "putting down" part has much more to do with Hellhammer than C.F. though. Almost every time he mentions Hellhammer he has to start ranting about how young, stupid, naive, talentless etc. Hellhammer was. Mentioning it once would have been enough. As for C.F., he also mentions good times and anecdotes. I've understood that a new edition of this book will hit the streets at some point. |

I enjoyed the book very much to be honest, but I already knew what Tom felt about Hellhammer, so I can't say I was surprised. I got this book last year for like 20$ on amazon, after looking for it for a normal amount of cash for 3/4 years. _________________ Into the Menstrual Night We Go-o, Hey-Ho, Hey-Ho...

For those interested, there's a thread about the new (according to Tom, rewritten and expanded) edition of the book on the Triptykon forum. No release date yet though although it was originally meant to be out in 2008. |

I've wanted to pick this up for a while but now I'll definitely wait for the new edition. Thanks for the info! _________________

No idea whether this was discussed already...
Seems like the floodgates are open; yet another book about black metal.
The list of people interviewed seems ok, although very much a northern affair again, it seems. I've never heard of this writer before, but then again I have left Terrorizer and Metal Hammer to the shelves for quite a while.
| Quote: | ‘Black Metal: Evolution Of The Cult’, a gripping look at black metal’s history, written by former Terrorizer scribe Dayal Patterson is available to pre-order.
Offering an unparalleled level of detail, and spanning 600 pages, ‘Black Metal: Evolution Of The Cult’ captures the progress of one of metal’s most dangerous and exciting genres. From it’s infancy in the 1980′s via it’s resurgence in the nineties and of course the scene we have today. ‘Evolution of The Cult’ combines interviews with a host of black metal luminaries, editorial insight and plenty of iconic photography to examine the artistic, musical, spiritual development of the genre and the creative work, ideologies and often colourful lives of some of its most significant bands, everyone from Venom and Mercyful Fate through to Alcest and Wolves In The Throne Room.
Also included throughout the book are a wealth of images, many of which are previously unpublished, and in some cases, never seen before, with unseen images dating right back to Mayhem’s Deathcrush sessions in the eighties.
You can pre-order ‘Black Metal: Evolution Of The Cult’ here and check out the the Facebook page here.
As well as a number of archive interviews, ‘Black Metal: Evolution Of The Cult’ also includes extensive and exclusive interviews with the following list of black metal luminaries:

Don't know if anyone has said it already butI just read the Metallica bio by Mick Wall. Good read. Most of the early stuff you'll know but I found the stuff after MoP era interesting. Worth the €5 anyway if you're looking for something to help pass the time some sunny afternoon _________________

Looking forward to ‘Black Metal: Evolution Of The Cult’ very much.
DEATH METAL needs another book or two..."Choosing Death" and "Swedish Death Metal" were both great, but there are many more stories to tell and things to talk about.
BLACK METAL needs a book written by someone the fans will (somewhat) respect and trust. Hopefully this "Evolution..." book hits the mark. _________________ We Are Satan's Generation And We Don't Give A Fuck! |

Jon "Metalion" Kristiansen - The Slayer mag diaries.
including all 20 issues of slayer mag and the previous Live Wire Mag.
what i missed was the demo/ album critics.
But then the book may have one thousand pages (it has 720)
Jon reflects alot about that times, very personal and sensitive but allways as a dedicated metal maniac who's aware he's not that same twen when all that errupts. (Not to compare with that boulevard right wing book by that blood axis guy -lords of chaos.)
If someone is intrested into that early era?
It's not bad but it's "from the dark past "
I read it, like a last will and testament thing. _________________ Sell, sell, sell and sell some more.
