Inspired by the Blasphemy stories thread that was on here before, back in the eighties Venom was chalked full of booze (and probably other substances) fueled stories of mayhem. My personal favorite being the one where Tom Araya pissed all over Cronos back on the combat tour.

The best one I remember is Cronos punching out the owner of Combat over the Here Lies Venom box set. The story goes the box came out with the "Born 1980 - Died 1985" and Cronos took it as Combat giving up on Venom after Possessed. After being "forced" to do a signing at a record store in NYC, supposedly the Combat guy demanded Cronos and co. sign a box for him as well, loudy screaming at Cronos to sign it. He signed it, then punched him in the face, breaking his nose.
I've heard that one for years.

Maybe it's time for a general 80s metal stories thread. Hopefully this one will have a bigger percentage of actual anecdotes than the Blasphemy one. |

According to Jeff Becerra, Possessed was opening for venom in the mid eighties and had the opportunity to go back stage and meet them. Jeff was a huge fan so he went back and introduced himself, Cronos was smashed out of his mind and retorted in a drunken stupor "who the fuck are you?! Get the fuck out of our dressing room asshole!!" To which Jeff calmy responded "Alright.. fuck you guys."
Later that night Jeff claimed that Venom was so fucking drunk that they were falling all over the stage and werent even able to play a single note haha. |

That doesn't surprise me at all. Mantas was the only advanced musician in the classic line-up. |

False story:
Cronos got all pissy because his niece did not invite him to her wedding. Her name is Kate Middleton. The story turned out to be fake but lots of people believed it.
And on another note; when Venom re-united (can't remember the exact date now) I believe they played the Dynamo Festival. Rumor has it that they showed up in 3 different limos and a fourth one was filled with money.
