Really hard choice for me here.
Voted for The Dark, but it's not set in stone by any means when talking about the first 4 albums.
Anyone know what Mike Howe is up to these days ? |

"Metal Church" gets my vote without a doubt.
"Metal Church" , "The Dark" and "Blessing In Disguise" are all mandatory heavy metal-releases though.
No idea what Mike Howe is doing these days, a brilliant vocalist. _________________ http://www.UnbornProductions.com

The first album is untouchable. Just amazing from start to finish, even the 'Highway Star' cover.
I like The Dark a lot, but IMO it's a big step down from the debut...much more accessible/commercial. Having said that, 'Ton of Bricks' is probably one of my all-time favorite songs.
I have ignored everything after The Dark. Heard a few songs here and there and didn't like any of 'em. _________________ Evil Is As Evil Does... |

Highway Star is one of the very few covers I consider superior to the original. It just fucking RIPS
I dig the more commercial aspects of The Dark... it's just some damn catchy metal. The Mike Howe stuff is really good, sucks it didn't hook you when you heard some of it. The "B" side of the Blessing in Disguise LP is untouchable, just perfect metal right there.
Metal Church also belongs in the fairly small club of bands that released one of the best album covers ever (self titled) and one of the absolute worst (hanging in the balance...<shudders>). |

Their debut is easily my favorite, but Start The Fire is a pure buttrock classic song.

Off that recommendation, I'll have to give Blessing... another chance. _________________ Evil Is As Evil Does... |

| The first one is fucking amazing. I couldn't get into anything after The Dark, even though I gave it more than a few chances. |

Had a hard time between the debut and The Dark but went with the debut. Amazing stuff. _________________
