One of the few original Norwegian Black Metal bands that tried to stay true to their roots, and yet somehow failed. Some people saw Quantos Possunt Ad Satanitatem Trahunt (what a retarted title) as a return to the days of glory and I guess it is. Sort of. How do you guys feel about this band? Is Pentagram really up there with the classics of the second wave? |

Pentagram, no doubt about it. This is one of my favourite albums from the second wave of Norwegian bands. _________________ "Le Black Metal c'est la mort. Ça doit rester la mort."

Pentagram. First three albums are all essential and for me personally, highlight of norsk arisk black metal. |

Pentagram + demos. Antichrist is good too, but not as essential. Under the sign of Hell was the last decent thing they did, for me at least. I only feel the need to own Pentagram & that demos bootleg, personally. _________________ Analog Worship

Under the Sign of Hell. There is something undeniable savage and primal about this one. Although the first three are all classics in my book. |

Yeah, first 3 are essential. I voted for Under The Sign Of Hell because of the insane thrash can drums and tuka-tuka parts. I don't care about the rest. |

Pretty much agree. the demos with Hat's vocals sound like a more organized Abruptum. Perfect!
Sadly they fell into the pit of mediocrity. What boring satanists they became.
Antichrist is good too, last Gorgoroth I would ever listen to. |

Under the sign of hell is their obvious peak, insane riffs and drumming there, Pentagram and Antichrist come close second. The last really good album was Incipit satan (which I know the resident gang of Xasthur-listening retards will hate, not enough blastbeats on that one), In Conspiracy had two good songs, everything else is definitely sub par (although I'd like to listen to Quantos with a better production, songs aren't all that bad per se). _________________ Permabanned |

I voted UTSOH. I love the first two and the demos, obviously, but I feel like UTSOH is more "personnal", less "by the book" in terms of traditionnal norwegian 2nd-wave black metal. The performances of everyone involved on this record are flawless, the über-dry production gives the album a sound that's unlike anything else in that style, I love it. |

Followed by "Under the Sign of Hell" (Original) and "Antichrist".
Never cared much for anything that came afterwards...
With that court circus over "copyrights" they became a laughingstock.
Plus, "Under the Sign of Hell 2011" is the most pointless and talentless re-recording ever, in the history of Black Metal. Ought to be re-named in "Under the Sign of Fail". _________________ Horde Absurd: www.hordeabsurd.com

I considered Under The Sign Of Hell as their best for years. I guess that hasn't changed really, but the first three will always be there among the first to know when you get into norwegian black metal. Good stuff, maybe a little rusty these days, but still mandatory. I can handle Destroyer and Incipit Satan too, and why not Twilight and Ad Majorem as well, even if with certain reservations, but I skipped the last full length completely for its obvious shortcomings. _________________ §:-«l |

My vote goes to Pentagram. The material is consistent and if there is such a thing as an "evil" mix, Pentagram has it! Antichrist is close second and both are very nostalgic for me; I especially remember struggling to learn the guitar trying to play along to "crushing the scepter"! |

Pentagram, then Twilight of the Idols, oddly enough. |
