GREATEST band in the whole world, ever. I'll go with DBtO seconded extremely close by Melissa and the NHNF ep. They're all amazing though.
And remember:

2: Don't break the oath

Never really got into the other releases... Maybe it's time to give them another listen. |

In the Shadows is an incredible album. Give it a shot. _________________

Melissa, then the EP, then Don't Break the Oath. I'm not saying any of these are necessarily worse than the other, just how they impact me really. The greatest Heavy Metal band ever.
Also, glad to see that only the EP and first two LPs got any votes. _________________ Great traders/sellers: GoldenBull, Ivan the terrible, OA, LifeDepraved, maranatha, newincident, 61514, Korpinen, NuclearGoatVomit, global deathrape, s. charlach, madcow, xyosefx, goatcaft, Blutkvlt, Ironwood, Unholy Horde, Wolfsturm888, Pinhas |

I agree with this, however, even the mighty Satan's Fall isn't enough to push past Don't Break the Oath for me.
DBtO is my favorite metal album ever, so it obviously gets my vote _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/lord_pazzuzu

Choosing between Melissa and DBTO is not possible for me. I'd also like to say that even though none of the later stuff is my favorite, none of it is terrible. MF is a class act and legendary for all the right reasons.
Can't vote! _________________

My favorite band of all time. Don't Break the Oath for me: it's the epitome of metallic song structures. All their albums are great though. _________________ Listen to Countess. |

Melissa is their ultimate masterpiece and one of the few totally perfect albums in the history of metal, every riff is pure genius, not a single dull moment on that one. I wouldn't be surprised to see DBTO win the poll though, I can see why people would prefer it to Melissa as it's lots catchier and easier to get into, the songs from the very first production ('81-'82) are much more complex and demanding in terms of listening experience.
As for the post-reunion stuff, In The Shadows is easily their best one albeit far from the class of the early releases. Time has a couple of great moments (the title track and the main riff of Witches Dance) but it's where the decadence begins. Into the Unknown, Dead Again and 9 don't even sound like MF to my ears, King's voice has a bad "'90ies" vibe on those records and the music lacks the Priest-like rocking riffs of the beginnings. _________________ Thread derailed

Interested in trading a dub of Apokalypsimz for a dub of Purpurearagotamiceps?
I want that Balwezo Westijiz–Urkraftens Mystik LP but wanted to get it with the Bekëth Nexëhmü |

One band that never broke any oath must be Cultes Des Ghoules, thats right... everything is Cultes Des Ghoules now.
Oaths made by blood and midnight... ritualistic fury and suffering.
I've played Don't Break the Oath weeks on end on repeat for 8hrs a day on my little portable music gadget at work. ...one song about to replace that now is Vintage Black Magic. |
