The debut album of british Antinomian is finally out on vinyl through Nachtgnosis. "Nihilum Infandum" made a similar impact as the debut albums of Svartidaudi and Isenscur, which is quite an achievement in my book.
Many will probably lazily compare the band to the middle-era of Deathspell Omega but in my opinion Antinomian created their own sound and feeling. It's definitely worth hearing. The opening song can be heard on their bandcamp. |

After initial struggles "Nihilum Infandum" has grown on me a lot and the album hasn't lost its charm even after several months (even though I may have not been listening to "Nihilum Infandum" as often as to some other albums I have reviewed during the last year). Strong moments have enchanted me and those few shortcomings stay in the background, not spoiling my listening experience. If I compare ANTINOMIAN to other "young" bands like Svartidaudi, Pseudogod or Mare ,who in my humble opinion shall one day stir the very foundations of black metal, I must say that these Brits stand close behind them. But who says that they won't create something astonishing as well? There is potential...
With their debut album ANTINOMIAN have set out towards their own sound into the pitch black spheres of death where many bands have peeked but didn't dare to enter.
