the 2009 album is a live recording, not a bunch of new songs; the adventus satanae is a 7ep, and the "askel..." is exactly the album I'm talking about, that comes out 05 years afetr the last full lenght, "sanojesi aarelle", that was released in 2008.
I say "5 years without a new full-lenght", not "without a single release"... |
oh right, just next guy seems like changed your quote a bit;) |

I have to admit that this song is a slight disappointment. Listened to it three times now. Maybe I should give it a few more listens. |

Same here, kind of misses the usual catchiness present in Horna songs created mostly, I think, by brilliant guitar riffs. Perhaps the song will grow on with a few listens. |

Sounds great.
I think the drums have never been that agressive/powerful and high in the mix so the guitars are less present but Shatrag the riff machine is here alright.
9th album and still full of spite, venom, bitterness and agression.

Are you the sort of person that uses google translate to express yourself on forums that are in languages you don't understand?
Either way, the more melodic side of Horna always appealed to me the most. I just have a much harder time appreciating the kinda generic grim Norwegian black metal they so often do, especially their groovy, slower moments. The relentless blasting generally keeps me content though. |

| This album gets better after several spins, I've noted already... Bought it at the gig on Friday. I think it's just a bit more challenging to appreciate something that sounds so anti-studio compared to what else has lately come out of Finland (fancy productions on Baptism, Behexen etc.) |

| Only listened to it once so far but I liked it quite a bit. My favourite Horna album was always Sanojesi Äärelle so a bit more of that sort of ambience would've been cool. I'm sure the album will reveal itself more as I listen to it though. |

This isn't too shabby I must admit. Those who read my posts know I'm not exactly best friends with modern black metal but I see there's some potential in this album. I had kinda lost hope on Horna, glad to see they're back on track. _________________ Thread derailed
