Never been into Portal much. They are entertaining to watch live, but the albums don't move me. This new song shows promise, however.

I agree 100% on that remark. Zine critics these days tend to use that formula. All great works are hated at first and praised later, then the same people who spoke shit about it are all about defending it later...Fucking hypocrites.

Do like that sample song, the bass tracks are quite sick. |
Portal are death metal, this is a non-issue.

new song is a little restrained but it sounds great. between the production and the relatively laid back drums it's almost easy listening for a portal song. excited either way, though i thought swarth was a let down.

Yeah and this is why I'm looking forward to the new album more than ever...they've simplified their compositions (relatively speaking of course) on these two new tracks but they're more memorable. Swarth was impressive for a couple of listens but it was just too chaotic...there was nothing to actually grab hold of. Like the worst exesses of most technical metal. Endless widdling. |
