Slough Feg is getting Twilight of the Idols, Down Among the Deadmen and Traveller reissued as a CD box set and is working on a new album that will be released by the label.

Is it just me or has the quality of bands signing to Metal Blade drastically shot up in the last few years? Not that even the majority of their bands are good, but it isn't just tons of metalcore bands now.

Heavy metal is popular again, so Metal Blade is a metal label again. It'll change once this isn't the flavor of the moment. Still, though, glad a great band like Slough Feg is making the most of this.

Pretty sure it has more to do with Nemtheanga working there than trend conspiracies.

Here's hoping this union of non-trend, insider insighted, once-great label hoo-ha gets Slough Feg out onto the road and into the grander halls, where poon and champagne cruise the velvet, rushing on sound.

Those are mutually exclusive explanations?

Yeah, metal is hip again. Even Century Media US is poaching metal bands instead of their usual fare of "bands" such as Iwrestledabearonce.

I'm a big fan of Slough Feg so of course this will be a mandatory purchase no matter the label.

What boggles my mind is that it took some 20 years for a US label to sign this band. About goddamn time someone woke up and realized how awesome these guys are!

Comparing the relative weight of each does not equate to claiming that the existence of one negates the other, so no. Obviously the decision for MB to work with Nemtheanga from an A&R standpoint can be construed as part of a trend, but that is an indirect relation. MB trying to work with the trends on their owns brings up shit like White Whizzer or whatever they're called. Alan has directly been the one bringing in these new bands like Portrait, In Solitude, Assaulter, and his own band, Blood Revolt. MB affords him the opportunity to do so because they realize it's good for business.

Actually they were signed beause Slagel was at their show in London that they played with Solstice, and he thought they were incredible.

Alan had nothing to do with signing In Solitude.

Anybody pick the box set up yet? Does it have all 3 CDs in separate cases each with their own booklets or is it a Roadrunner "From the Vault" deal where it's a 3cd case with a 1 sheet booklet with pixelated art?

THIS!! Twilight of the Idols is one of my favourite albums, these guys totally rule, they really deserve a wider appreciation!
